Medium Tanks
« on: 14 June 2019, 08:41:57 »
The first tank that used "my" tracked medium chassis is finished.

Need some work at the turret (some more) and the front (not so much). The Myrmidon is heavy armored s i need to change the skirts into "full-plate" rather the current "half-plate"

Details should be adequate for printing (at least in 1:160 scale)

when i do this correctly- the chassis could be the modular base - for Scorpion, Hunter, Goblin, Vendette and Bulldog.

Not Goblin - its a Kanaille - a completely different tank using Fuel Cells or Chemical Lasers.

I'm pretty sure its a overkill.
As usually stuff like chemical laser, Rocket Launchers and Machine Gun Arrays should be available in the IS during the succession wars.
I don't know if i should either go half-partisan or half demolisher from here.
a mobile hq, mash, bridge layer or engineering vehicle are also possible.

Seyla, the IS Chemical lasers might be a bit more bulky but that would be the only difference or something and yeah everything else makes sense.

Sry, I know that I'm confusing from time to time (most) the Terminator uses 4x 12.5mm Gatlings.
The Medium Tank might use a chemical laser - because its the inly way to have ICE and a Heavy AntiTankMissile Rack. FCEs are a option but leaves to much space for SAM and Terminator

Yeah the turret inspiration is based on the German Gepard and the Chinese Type 95 - although somehow I needed to get a gunner into the turret as well.
He rides quite comfortable - if you consider the cockpit of a BF-109 comfortable (this is my rough estimate for gunner and driver stations)

 :o Just a coincidence  :P  8)

no really I hate sponsons and to move the Sperrys into the turret makes sense. (there is room for 6-8 soldiers in the rear, still) - for other Goblin versions (MechDestroyer, Artillery, MASH, AssaultBreacher....I need to alter the hull - and the turret get removed

is a 35t Hovertank a Medium Tank as well?
I think so:

don't tell anybody that I wanted to start with a Harasser - but by accident I put a block (to substract something) where the cockpit is situated. And I though - oh that looks nice.... some time later I hade a vehicle that was larger then the start vehicle:

With muscle power - after the Gadfly (for a  Harasser its armored) made its approach and spent its ~500kg of ammunition in the armored tubes, it disengages. Far from the line the driver put the engine in pause and the crew reload each 45kg missile.

I'm just in the concept phase for reload mechanism for - Spike SR, Javelin, LAHAT... sized missiles

I like it :)
Thx

Re: BT Vehicle Redesigns
One of my redesign attempts was the Manticore, I forget about it and only started lately again, as usual I try to keep some destinct design features while dropping the stuff that might not work and result in an unbearable shot trap.

This was the first draft for the Manticore, based on a T72... however it somehow didn't have the look - so another redesign was made: the design feature is the Object490a turret:

however some people liked the first draft, so what about the most common medium tank of all: the Vedette - especialy the Vedette has almost no common design feature fiving the three existing TRO pictures:
Still very early:

I'm open for suggestions wich design elements I have to include that its more obvious a Vedette or Manticore.

maybe its because of the view? Anyhow I reduced the width of the main hull further to get the "pod-like" look of the Vedette.

OK, I've done it, nothing fancy and if you have a printer you might know were to look for.
Next steps are some textures - and then some variants (RAC, UAC, LGR, LBX)

well are there any other pictures of the bombast laser? The version of the Vedette V9 from Prototypes is quite lame.

Anyhow: At the moment I look on 4 variants finished, ok almost. I think the hull front and the sides need some love, also the mount is missing some details.
Are there versions with dozerplate?

Could be a Bulldog, althoug its using a FuelCell moves 5/8 and only weight 54tons.

The crux was the missile launcher and the variants, but now turret and hull have enough space for ammo, crew, fuel and engine.
Only turret armor at the sides is thin
