It's the post-Christmas slump. I'm filled with ham and turkey, so you all get Battle Armour. Wait, how does that work?

First up is the Buraq, because giant robot horses are awesome. It's perfect for all your Brony needs.

Number two is also a quad BA, in this case the ferocious Fenrir II. Doggie.

And number three is Mr Hugs himself, the Ogre. Have fun!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, I'v been having fun with the horse BA and iv been playing around with ogres. Thank you kind sir  :) Good luck when you finally get to Kobold IIC's  ;)

<Kojak> Yeah, there's definitely a learning curve with BA, But once you learn how to use 'em well they're addictive, heck, just look at what happened to Foxx ;-)

First icons of the new year! Are you excited? I know I am!

First up is the Tanaris Battle Armour, who has the most adorable little Angry Face. Sadly, it doesn't translate.

And second is the flying road hazard that is the Kamakiri Attack VTOL. Because Heavy Gauss on a VTOL sounds like such a good idea.

You mistake the heavy gauss for the Vtols "emergency air break"  ;D

Wonderful job on the Tanaris, I'm sure by now we can skip the animal scream of "yaaaaay" and just go straight to, thank you kind sir  :)

The Lament's on my list of units that are waiting for the Tech to be enabled in MM. Trust me, as soon as the Radical HS is a go, the Lament will be the first thing i do.

You may want to start working on this one.  RHS was added yesterday to the SVN along with TSEMP.  Both still needing some testing but should make the next custom releases.

In that case, I'd better get my butt in gear!

In the meantime, here's the Stalker II, a 'Mech I held off doing for ages. Why did I do that? Because I was lazy and using a regular Stalker as a placeholder, of course.

And now, probably the most requested 'Mech Icon I've had yet, just in time for the new builds.

It's the Lament, ready to spam PPCs and flush its cooling system for Devlin Stone's better tomorrow. So load it up and get radical! (Reversed baseball cap and skateboard not included)

I'm sure many don't care what the mechs look like, but for people like me, Deadborder's icons make the game so much better.

Can't thank you enough and hope you keep making new ones and redoing old ones to your standard.

I'll admit now that I'm something of an Icon Snob myself; I hate seeing "generic" icons for units which is one of the reasons why I do this. That and it's fun.

For me, its not the use of a generic icon that bothers me, its just that I don't much like the generic icons that are used. The icon quality has improved so much over the years, that the crude icons we have as generics bug me now.

Nope, for some reason half my post is missing though. The other half was:
"So maybe limit it to 5t increments?"

No idea wtf happened there.

A different generic for ultra-light 'Mechs would be nice.

I loaded up the 15 ton one from TRO3145 Davion and MM gave it the Atlas icon  ;D

*loads up MM to find the name*

the Prey Seeker

 ???

hmmmm ..... maybe ..... instead of using the Icons from existing designs as the default, someone could come up with an actual [custom] 'generic' Icons to be used instead? (for each weight group).

ie: a custom Assault 'Mech would get the 'generic' Assault image (not based on an existing design) instead of the Atlas image?

or that just a silly idea? :P [and/or too much work]

Having units use a generic icon based on weight class wouldn't be tough; the hard part would be having the icons to use.  I can make the code changes if the icons are there.

I actually really like this idea of assigning a new generic per 5 ton mech increment.  I've made several icons for a lot of david white's fan-commissioned artwork.  Maybe I should post them.

I'd suggest you check with the original artist first, just to be polite if nothing else.

He was referring to the David White thing, not to us using new icons for every 5 tons ;)
