The point of that story was to show the huge difference between a bad soldier knowingly shooting at a hospital, and a good soldier that got wrapped up in the heat of combat and fog of war, and didn't actually know what he was shooting at.

Like Amaris troops during the Civil War?  Vs the SLDF that were forced to shoot through friendlies (human shields).  *That* redefined 'ugly'.

hm, in one scenario we did attack a Mech factory. Well, not the factory itself, but the power generators. It took the owning House several months to years to install a new power generator (some geothermal thing IIRC) and the factory was offline for several months to years - without a scratch to it.
There are ways to close a factory without burning it to the ground ;)

Here's an interesting point to consider guys.  And it just might explain why coolant trucks are verboten to attack.

MASH units, rolling hospitals that help heal any wounded in sight, are never attacked.

Coolant trucks, rolling IVs for overheating BattleMechs that help any exhausted 'Mech in sight, or never attacked.

They are medical units, for BattleMechs.  So you DON'T shoot them...

I have no qualms about gunning down MechTechs or Coolant Trucks with enemy colors. I've yet to see a neutral/universal Coolant Truck on the battlefield -They are usually attached to a unit's support elements.

Timbiqui Dark trucks.  Neutral 'coolant' trucks.  And absolutely off limits, even to pirates to destroy.  To capture ... absolutely.

Glad I wasn't drinking when I read that one.  Absolutely correct.  Capturing a Timbiqui Dark truck could get you a planet from the IlKhan.
