Mech Scale infantry
« on: 02 November 2012, 10:20:31 »
So, looking at the IWM site, I saw some awesome new infantry figs... but no indication of their size.

How does the scale compare to old davion and kurita infantry? Anyone got pictures with a frame of reference?

Thank You

If you mean stuff like all the cool online exclusive infantry we've been getting, I don't have a picture handy, but they are bigger than the old infantry. The same is true for the newer battlearmor minis. The new stuff is sculpted at roughly 10mm scale, rather than 6mm 'mech scale. That was done as an intentional choice to allow better detail on the models, at the expense of ideal scaling. (Some of the bigger BA is nearly protomech sized)

Personally, I would have preferred them to be a bit smaller, but they are very well done, so I can't complain too much.

OK, I guess I'll either have to keep buying the davion/kurita or switch over to the other.

It's completely up to you. I use both. I've got a large amount of the older small troops, and use them for standard foot infantry. I use the newer specialized troops to represent...well, exactly what they are. Specialized units that won't likely show up on the battlefield as often as your line grunts.
