Actually I want two of these. One painted up in a 1st FedSuns Lancers scheme and the other probably in some generic grey scheme that can be used by pretty much anybody.
I don't set an example for others. I make examples of them.

Next on my list after some Galactic ground units will be this...

If IWM doesnt go for it, I can see what a Shapeways version would run.

This look better than the Union and Overlord. In fact, I would like the Union with those metal add-on.  O0

I thought IWM moved away from 2 piece spheroids. The latest Union and Overlord iterations arrived with one piece bodies.

Both of my two-piece Unions don't line up at all.  The three-piece Overlord-C I did required a little work, but was fine in the end.  I've been wanting to pick up the one-piece examples, but, eh, funds.  I'll have funds for a Fortress, mark me!

My two piece Union required a little work but I got them to line up. No problem with the Overlord at all. Just got the new one piece Union and Overlord IIc a few weeks back and are jump above the old two pieces.

Sweet!  I really like the mapscale droppers.  A Fortress would make my day.  Ask Kirk to model a Long Tom stick out the top!

yes, yes, yes again, and oh hells bells yes!! deffinatly with the long tom atop it!  >:D  O0
Overkill is only overkill when you cannot find the pieces.

I hope to see the final version as one piece. Had huge differences with all my Unions and Overlords (up to 0,9cm in diameter with one Overlords lower to mid section). I think there is a simple way to avoid that.

so my question is, just how big is the map scale drop ships compared to the mech minis?

Don't have any pictures handy, but as an example, a Union is a little less than twice as tall than a Zeus miniature, and if you lay the Zeus down flat, it's almost exactly two Zeus-heights wide.

It all depends, usually one dropship is done a year. It will depend on how well this one sells. Though some other ones might come before those two.

That's actually really cool... wishing it had the artillery piece (I don't see it) as an option, but that's what bashes are for.

Might have to do one of these after all.  :)

Got to agree, having the Long Tom as a option would have been awesome. Still hope they do the Excalibur next.

It has already been stated above that the long Tom sticking out is an option.

The Long Tom optional piece is shown on Page One.  When in doubt, look through the whole thread.  O0

True it does say as a possible option, but the pic above showing all the pieces doesn't seem to have it.

I think I get you now.  O0  I think the problem is the piece is so TINY in the picture that it can't be seen very well.  ;D   On page 1, if you see the post by Rommel_Twee that says "LongTom option idea.", you can see what it's supposed to look like.  Then, if you look at his post on page 2 where he says "Ok folks, models are done, 3D files created are out for quotes", he has the pic showing all the pieces. Granted, even saving it to my HD then enlarging it didn't help any, but I Think I narrowed down which piece it is. Look at the 3 pieces that I'm guessing are the bay doors (there's 2 other "doors" to the right of them), and look at the little round pieces above them.  I think the one on the left is the Long Tom. I KNEW I'd seen the little bugger, so I couldn't figure out why you didn't!  :D  Mystery Solved.

I think I got it, the one little circle for a closed dome and the half circle for the Long Tom deployed dome.
