2 New 4X8' Maps

Hello everyone. I'm Mapmaster. You may remember me from such hits as "Check out these huge effin maps I made" or "That thread got modded".

Anyways, Here's my 2 newest creations:

Closeup: (me and a few fans were still in the process of hashing out the hex markers, thus the numbered hexes)

Wow. Just wow. It looks like you superposed a hex grid over an airport photo for that last two, is that correct?

Out of interest, what program do you use to create them?

Oh, and even though I've already said it earlier in this post, those are some seriously impressive maps you have there.

F-35, but looks out of scale.

I can see a couple of Citation business jets (which I work on for a living), and I think the JSF isn't as big as them.

Thanks. There's a lot more where that came from. If you search for the thread mentioned in the OP, you can see most of the rest of the collection.

It's all done in photoshop and then I print them at the shop where I work.

ding ding ding. You're probably right about the scale. I just wanted to throw some planes in there that didn't look like crop dusters.

And I like the red and white Warrior VTOL as well. But couldn't you just leave out the Mobile HQ in Hex 48?

Just wow....sorry to sound dumb.   Where can we download these things?  We need special program to be able print them out as map sheets or this strictly for MegaMek?

No, I have folks that have tried to convert them to megamek, but I make them for the sole purpose of tabletop play. The original thread in which they appeared is here:

Just unbelievably accurate, right? It's almost like i took satellite images OF mars and somehow turned them INTO this map, right?  :D

Notice I ddn't menton about the Artillery setup in Hex 21...  ::)

On that Mars one... notice how the smaller mound could be a bunker while the crater might have been one.

what about a sci-fi "super-sequoiya super-forest" map, with sci-fi-but-not-fantasy super-tall-trees (say, the world's gravity = 0.5G), which would be about 300m tall, and 30m wide at the base...

would it be potentially possible, to "super-size" (perhaps by a factor of <=2) a giant redwood forest, for an "Endor" sort of scenario, having hex-sized tree trunks...

a few fallen over, stretching 8-12 hexes long, being barriers to (non-jump) movement...

7-hex (=1+6 surrounding hexes) or more-sized-shadows, from the branches & boughs ?  the surrounding 6 hexes would = rough terrain, from the gnarly knobbly roots

the lowest lying of which would be about +100-200m = level 20-30-ish

perhaps w/ some exceptions, to impede high-for-'Mechs jumps ?

or, what about an industrial park map, simulating some crucial complex, perhaps w/ parts which are run-down and abandoned (e.g. game-centuries-old-wings of factories which once produced LosTech equipment for 'Mechs, but which weren't used during the SWs for centuries) ?

Bismarck~ Housebook Stiener has Industrial Hex stats and if you want, just take the Factory from Solaris 7 Mappack and add them to it, along with Rubble Hexs and a few more Buildings if you want too.

But Mapmaster: Is this possible to be the next map you do?

people appear to oppose "house" rules...

but hypothetically you could create a BT map on squares, for cities, vs. hexes...

something such as 0.5MP to turn 45 degrees (1.0MP for 90), and 1.5MP to move diagonally, wouldn't seem super difficult to do

the link worked for me on a different computer, but unfortunately, the image is still too low res to use. believe me, if the right images were easier to find, there would be a lot more of these maps in my portfolio.

No, I actually used the google maps link. It's still too low res to make a good looking print. I'll try to post a link to a good resolution image to give you a point of comparison.

I really appreciate people scouting the tronz for good images though. I've got about 3 good maps left that I can make before I run out of images that I've found.
