After the Age of Extinction incident I've been looking for the good movie.  This last trip to the used book store I found it, and right now I am watching Transformers The Movie from the 20th anniversary special edition.  Love it.  Spike just cursed.   :-X

Now if only that movie hadn't given us Wheelie it would have been perfect.

Night at the Museum. Ok for a Stiller flick. Maybe watch the other 2 soon.

The third one for me was the worst of the 3, especially for having rebel wilson (i can't stand her, but then i can't stand many chubby as heck actors and actresses).

Leon: The Professional is now available streaming on Netflix (American cut, so some stuff is left out). Still a very enjoyable movie. Natalie Portman still impresses.

Now if only that movie hadn't given us Wheelie it would have been perfect.

They still had to make it for kids, so having Wheelie with a necklace of Sharkticon teeth might have been too much.

Still, he grew up hunted 24/7, so I'd expect him to be a lot more paranoid in his outlook (almost like Jack from Mass Effect 2), and far more willing to permanently deal with problems.  In the fight against Unicron he would be brave, because he can see there is no way to hide, so it is the bravery of a cornered animal (so if someone panics he just abandons them).  If it is a fight he might lose and there is a way out, he will retreat.  As the series goes on, show how broken he thanks to the upbringing, and how much help he will need.  You could even do research on child soldiers and what is necessary to deprogram them as part of the story line.

Actually, that's not entirely unlike how he was portrayed in the IDW books.

Watched "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" with the wife last night. It's been so long since we saw the first, we really didn't remember much of what had happened, though that certainly didn't spoil our enjoyment of this one. Downey's and Law's banter are superb, and Fry's portrayal of Mycroft was also delightful.

"Mad Max: Fury Road."

This says it all:

Okay, not really; the movie is definitely worth watching, though. Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron both turned in excellent performances.

I agree it is worth watching. It is a good movie, a "freak-show" kind of post-apo stuff with rollercoaster action (does it stop for even a minute?). I was expecting nothing but initially and then some critics ("critics"?) started to claim it is a great, deep movie with excellent character creations. It raised my expectations to the level I got slightly disappointed when finally seen a movie - from where I sat there was not much time to either appreciate or look for neither depth nor complicated plot.

It's not a movie, but watching the RDM version of Battlestar Galatica. The girlfriend never saw it, and I'm realizing again just how much of a awesome show that is.

Mad Max is awesome.
...
Trying to think something else to say but... awesome!

I don't usually like action films. Or films in general, most seem to be very meh at best.
This is absolutely one of the best films i've ever seen.

On one of my adnd sites, someone mentioned he and his 13 yr old boy went to see it over the weekend, and his kid commented that "Mad max, fury road" looks like the Fast and Furious grew some balls.

Just watched Fury Road.  I agree with some of the comments I've seen that Furiosa was the main character, not Max.

But I have to say, I was half expecting a character to show up wearing T51-B armor at some point.  And once the rockmobile showed up I started thinking of the bad guys as the Tainted Coil.

"Transcendence" - glad it was a "rental" from Netflix; wasn't horrible, but paying typical theater prices might have been a touch steep. A touch on the predictable side, but all of the main cast turn in decent performances.

I rewatched the 1979 All Quiet on the Western Front again.  Even though it is in some ways inferior to the 1930 version, it is still a powerful film.  Every time I see that poor kid slide into that crater and start choking on gas it gives me a knot in my stomach.

have to admit the working suits were made pretty tough and acting pretty much did walk a fine line between anime and live action still it was fun re watching it with my youngling

"Edge of Tomorrow" - Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, based on a Japanese novel, "All You Need is Kill." I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, since, for one thing, I thought the reveal of why he was repeating wasn't done too soon or too late. Most of the sequences, etc, seemed to follow the premise's internal logic, so nothing had me going "WTF"? The main characters and supporting characters were all well acted/portrayed.

I recently watched "Rise of the Guardians" and "City of Ember" on TV.

I liked "Rise" better, but didn't feel that either were a waste of time.

Yeah, I'm not normally a huge Tom Cruise fan, but I enjoyed that film, too.  Interesting premis and fairly well done.  The scenes of Cruise dying over and over again were fun, too!   ;D

As someone who is usually not into cartoon films, i liked Rise.  Loved the voice overs of some of my fave actors.

Cyborg 009-1 the end of the beginning.  This movie in my opinion was fun to watch but it has nothing to do with the anime and manga under the name Cyborg 009 at all.

Was this the 2012 movie?  All-CGI animation and trippy ending? World ends, but everyone alive in the afterlife?

"Knights of Badassdom" - cheesy, but entertaining. I don't know if never having LARPed means my viewing experience was made better or worse for that lack.
