So, what happened on Sunday?  How did the escapade go?

The Heroes got to the convoy, had a dozen of the zoomers buzz a round for a bit, saved a couple of the convoy drivers, record the site for the local police, kill half of the zoomers.

We have several mechwarriors in Helo that have spent weeks using their mech's hands to move heavy things gently.  Could they get experience points toward their piloting skill?

The mech that have 2 hands spent a week helping moving rubble in Hilo after that they provided security for the area. Most of the dirty work was done by ComStar. They are the ones that have S A R teams and engineering teams on world.

Nejiro Control to all defense commands you are now on yellow alert.
Nejiro Control to all defense commands you are now on yellow alert. This is not a drill.

Nejiro Militia is to move to defense points.

All Household units will move to preset defense points.
Repeat, All Household units to move to preset defense points.

All Mercenary commands to prep 2 units for deployment.
Repeat, all Mercenary commands to prep 2 units for deployment.
All Mercenary units not deploying will take up defensive positions at currant locations.

Nejiro Command I will have 2 units from Adept Sanchez’s Level II prep for the OP.
Roger Precentor and thank you.

OK so for the fun part.

All commands get to pick 2 units from the rosters they have.
As normal any units pulling security or in training are out for this mission. Units that deployed last mission are out for this mission.

Any idea as to the general make-up of the attackers?  Are they heavy units, or Mad Maxes on bikes?  Any mech footprints?

At this time no one has eyes on. The only thing the people at the site see is the smoke.

Tarawa Security to Nejiro Control we have a raider force burning the crops still in the field.
Nejiro Control please respond.
Chi-I I do not think our transmission is getting through.
Check the equipment you might be correct.

“Nejiro Control to Tarawa Security come in. Nejiro Control to Tarawa do you read.”
Sir I have been trying to contact Tarawa’s Security but no luck.
See if you can get hold of anyone from the Rhee Clan.
I will try sir. “Nejiro Control to Clan Rhee. Clan Rhee please respond.”
Sir they do not respond.
I know we have no love loss with Clan Rhee but if they are getting our transmission they are out of their minds not to answer us.
Tech get me the photos from the last pass of satellite 27.
Sir here they are.
This is not good. Get me the Governor right now.

Lots of smoke and fire about 10 k form the city of Tarawa.
The image is standard photo no IR, Mag or thermal. If you want a real world idea look at the photos from the I S S just posted of the fires in the south.

ok this my sound silly but can i load a mech with fire suppression missiles ?? is there a way a mech can put a fire out?

also if the raiders are the same fast suckers we have been dealing with will be hard catch them or target them therefore i will be bringing my Archer and Wolverine as they are the best gunners i gots lol

so what are they rest of you thinking?

i think we need to
1. drive the raiders off
2. help get the fire under control
3. try and prevent the fire from hurting the populace if possible

Sorry but no weapons put out fires. Start them yes.

Need to read the force restrictions. The two units you want to bring are on a different mission on the other side of the rock.

These will be very good things to do.
1) they are part of your contract
2) will keep the locals happy

Assuming that this is the Mad Max Motorcycle Club, I'll bring a Maxim with battlearmor and the Karnov just back from summer camp.

You may want to re-think this one.

The fires are large and only just started up. Some how a guys on a bikes just does not cover that.

Might want some heavy weapons on this mission ;-)

It's too bad my heavy weapons are stuck in Hilo City right now.  BTW, is it possible I can rotate either my Marauder or Wolverine out of there and replace them with one or both of my Hammers?

Yes you can after this mission.

Also by heavy weapons I was thinking more the infantry/battle armor and light vehicles. Not much fire power. That and the fire and smoke not the best for the vehicles just saying  ;)

ok plan "A" did not survive contact lol

air support around big fires would be nice but the fires may make it very dangerous for them my forces are spread kinda thin and out doing things so my choices are getting thin lol

ordered to deploy for mission will be my striker light tank (C3) and my great wyrm ill see how my new clan pilot fights

after this hopefully things will allow for a regrouping

from the reports we are receiving can we get any idea how much longer forces will be tied up at the city?

recovery operations must be almost over by now isnt it?

I misinterpreted your post.  I only have my Archer available of my mechs with my Hussar pilot on special assignment.  I'd like to bring the Karnov for eyes in the sky.

You can try. The smoke maybe a problem for that. You can use ground vehicles just keep them from the fire.

Hi, Charles  (don't know if/when you'll read this, but...)

I want to offer a couple of (I think) relevant thoughts on the whole bargaining/arms for hostages thing.  I'm not trying to explain that I'm right and you're wrong, I just offer for you thought/comment.

Firstly, in character, the battletech universe is a place where ransoming lost equipment is not unusual.  Justin Xiang in Warrior: Riposte remembers a warrior offering a bottle of Palos champagne as a ransom to have his mech returned to him.  I may be wrong, but I believe that's the reference.  We are in the Clan era where that probably isn't as common as it used to be, and admittedly having someone threaten to shoot a downed mech definitely isn't as clearcut a comparison, but this person isn't Caesar, as an example, who has been known around this area of the Periphery for killing people simply as a distraction.

Secondly, more out of character.  I believe I understand your comparison to the Israeli's or to no negotiating with terrorists.  The pragmatic problem that our group faces with drawing the line and accepting the possible/probable death or destruction of one of our mechs rather than allow a single enemy mech to withdraw the field is that our forces are outnumbered by those of the universe.  While we're trying to replace the lost warrior/mech, we may be struck by someone else, someone we will desperately wish additional numbers to face.  (of course, there are other forces on planet we may be able to get assistance from, but same point).

Anyone else who wants to comment, feel free, but I'm not trying to attack here, just offering thoughts.

Thank you,
John  (who would love to sign the message Bully, or Kowalski, or Grandmother, or number one Grandson, but isn't going to push his luck THAT much)

OK, since you said we can move units out of Hilo City now, Col. Greyjoy is going to move his Marauder "Crow's Eye" out of the city along with my 2 squads of Fa Shih BA.  Capt. Botley's Wolverine "Black Lorren" will remain and be joined by Lt. Harlaw's Hammer "Cleftjaw" to help defend the city and assist in recovery efforts.
