The Ceallach Ichizoku, the Whistler Committee on Cultural Affairs, and the Whistler Yuki Matsuri Production Committee would like to invite you to provide a team to participate in the Whistler Yuki Matsuri Snow Sculpture Contest. The snow festival is an annual event celebrating winter with ice and snow arts and athletics, food and fun. The festival is held from December 16-22, with the Snow Sculpture Contest held on the 21. Up to twenty teams may participate; from student, police, militia, commerce and other organizations; of no more than five persons of age eighteen or older, each team is assigned a block of snow eight feet long by eight feet wide and ten feet high by lottery, the finished sculpture may not exceed twelve feet in diameter, and must be completely finished before judging begins on Sunday morning. No media other than snow, ice and water, no armatures, no power tools, no colorants are allowed. Sculptures will be judged on creativity, technique and message. Prizes include gift baskets, trophies and of course bragging rights. Winners are announced at the closing ceremonies of the festival, Sunday evening. All team accommodations will be provided by the Production Committee and The Kiroro Ski Lodge. We look forward to your participation.
