Not to be nit-picky, but neither Rapier carries PPC's.:

RPR-100b Rapier--Snakespinner (Flight Lieutenant Ilmari "Illu" Juutilainen).

    "An exclusive design fielded by SLDF Royal commands, the RPR-100b Rapier replaces the standard AeroFord 340 with a 340 XL Engine. The RPR-100b adds a trio of Double Heat Sinks and CASE, upgrades the LRMs to LRM-20s slaved to Artemis IV FCS, increases the LRM ammo from 1 ton to 3, and replaces the PPCs with Large Pulse Lasers. The craft's rear is also now covered by a Medium Pulse Laser."

RPR-102 Rapier--Warclaw (Flight Sergeant Feargus "Carrion" MacFeargus).

     "The craft has a massive Assault Class Autocannon firing coaxially with a pair of Large Lasers, along with a 10-Tube Long Range Missile launcher. The craft carries 10 rounds of autocannon ammunition and 12 volleys of missile ammo for its launcher. It has 16 Double Heat Sinks to keep it cool as it Alpha Strikes"

In short, we may not carry bottled lightning, but anyone that tangles with us will regret it....And that doesn't count potential wing-loads to start the battle.  (I've always found a volley of Rockets fired at long range an effective way of breaking an enemy's formation as they avoid the barrage. Which allows you to close the distance, negating any range advantages. And once we get close...AC-20, BOOM, headshot!  And if the opponent happens to be a dropship, well, suck to be them.  @85 tons, that's a lot of rockets we can carry, even with a good load of drop-tanks for extra fuel.)

My bad.  I was thinking of the original TRO:2750 Rapier, not the models you folks decided on.

It is the thought that counts MA! Team Rapier will definitely work even without the PPCs. Still I like the theme. Is there any other air lances armed with PPCs?  ;)

I assigned y'all the Rapiers because they carry another four (4) PPCs between them!  Plus two LRM-10s and a pair of AC-20s!  It seems to fit your company better.

MA
I like the theme, but  No PPC on those birds unless they were modified back, and Thunderbird might not have PPC but 3 ER LL and 2 Gauss Rifle give them a hell of a Thunder!!

Y'now, I'm not sure if the Egg of Doom really needs to be modified: Team Skeeter could, in theory, deploy and be recovered in fighter mode. :)

I got say the Team instead of Lance thing is something we could run with. How about an overall name like Teamwork? :D

I still like the idea of using the Team theme. How about the Extreme Teams?

If I counted correctly on the TO&E, The 92 Stooges would be a good name, and probably quite appropriate. :D

from what I remember of most of the mech warriors and pilots in the unit are mostly prior military background of one degree or another.  They've seen combat and gotten whatever other training.  So here is my recommendation

Hell's or Hades Teams
Hell's or Hades Legion(aires)
Hell's or Hades Armored Cavalry
Grim Reaper Bunnies!

If not, then I will also vote for 1st Lapine Heavy Cavalry (The Doom Bunnies)   Were a bunch of Merc's with a sense of humor!

I'm of 2 minds on this, both of which involve NOT having 2nd Battalion in the Overlord.....

I'm thinking 2nd Bat with its many faster companies should use the Unions while 1st Bat drops a hammer of 36 "Heavy-ish" mechs onto our main target.

Better to have the Lighter units deploying separately.  At least that is my thinking...... thoughts?

As for how to modify it, I'm thinking a combo of OL-HQ & OL-Vehicle.  (20 Mechs, 12 Tanks, 6 ASF, HQ Center)
It holds 2 Lances from RCC while Team Red gets the Confederate.  But that is only if you don't just stick the entirety of 1st bat in there.  Its just a thought.

Either way I'm suggesting 2nd Battalion deploy from some of the Unions.

If we have any say in it : I'll take Strike Team Two and Lance Black to go with my Strike Team One for my Company.
Hehe, I hope our only missions are snipe & retreat, because we run fast but can't kill anything with size to it.

Actually, the "Jump Battalion" seems cool at first but I'm really wishing we had a little more beef to be a threat.
Having 1 company be a bunch of "Pillagers, Victors, Highlanders, Shoguns, Marauder-II's, GrassHoppers, Guillotines, Catapults, etc etc etc" would give us something to punch a hole with so the other 2 companies can shoot through & wreck the rear area.  The biggest lance in the battalion can "barely" be called "Heavy" at 235, but quite a few 4-6-4 mechs is slowing down the strategic speed 2 of 3 companies.

Greased Lightning

I’m thinking along the same lines……

Regimental = Thunder & Lightning……… or ……. Stormriders
1st Battalion = Tropic Thunder   or    Thunderstrike   or   Rolling Thunder   or   Blitzkrieg
2nd Battalion = Greased Lighting    or   Lightning Strike   or    Cyclones

Stormriders sounds interesting.   Rolling Thunder is already taken in a sourcebook/scenario pak.  Maybe we could use caveliers or dragoons for the faster battalion:   Lightning Dragoons.

Maybe instead of Rolling Thunder it could be Walking Thunder?

IIRC, "Dragoons" are Heavy Cavalry right?    Maybe 1st Bat = Thunder Dragoons

2nd Bat with its Marauder/Victor as the largest mechs & most of them being small & fast reminds me of Dav Lt. Guards in the Warrior Trilogy........   So maybe "Swift Lightning" for 2nd so we don't use a Movie quote & as a little homage to the DLG?

So...

Reg = Stormriders
1st = Thunder Dragoons
2nd = Swift Lightning

ASF Wing = Steel Rain  ?
Gound Support = The Monsoon  ?

Cavalry Team Three (300 tons)
HTM-27U Hatamoto-Hi--Shin Yodama (Captain Shin Yodama).

CTS-6Y Cestus--Tyler Jorgensson (MechWarrior Alexander J. Carter).
HTM-27U Hatamoto-Hi--O5P Ghost (MechWarrior Antonio Toyma).

Team PORCUPINE (250 tons)
HGN-732 Highlander--Broken Mnemonic (Lieutenant Arhab al-Mansur).
MAD-4A Marauder II--Minnow (Lance Sergeant Anton Watson).
UM-R60 UrbanMech--Ckosacranoid (MechWarrior "The Stig").

KGC-010 King Crab--True Tanker (Lance Sergeant Pi).
AWS-8Q Awesome--Blackpanzer (MechWarrior Zhao "Blackpanzer" Zi Long).
NSR-9J Nightstar--Savage Coyote 79 (MechWarrior LeAnn Raines).

LIGHTNING Team (Gold Squadron, Trinity)
CSR-V20 Corsair--Beachhea1985 (Flight Lieutenant Grey "Pappy" Boyington).
LTN-G15 Lightning--Sir Chaos (Flight Sergeant Daniel "Crash" Carson).

I'd be more inclinced if these where either F-700a Riever or CHP-W5B Chippewa or even better one of each.

Why? What's harder than 8 ER Larges and 60 LRMs a turn / 2 LB-X-10/ACs while firing 96 SRMs a turn.

If both are used then half this amount... still impressive. We have a slow unit, yes so we should have at least some slow areosupport yes? Hit them longrange while We plod to their Doom.
