Welcome to the Valentine's Day edition of Miniature(s) of the Fortnight, where Cupid uses not a bow and arrow but an arm-mounted AC/20. After all, the fastest way to a 'Mech's heart is through its rear Center Torso armor.
Seriously, we're looking at two visually similar (but theoretically unrelated) 'Mechs this fornight, the
Victor and the
Lu Wei Bing. The
Victor has been with us a long time, dating back to TRO 3025, and the
Lu Wei Bing is a relative newcomer, from TRO 3145. They have similar weapon loadouts and similar movement profiles. For more information, see the
Lu Wei Bing's
'Mech of the Week article since the
Victor does not appear to have a modern article.
The
Victor has seen a few sculpts over the years:
- The original sculpt released by Ral Partha (20-860). This sculpt, or one based on it, may still be available in the Quick-Start Lance Pack (10-044).
- The CityTech boxed set included a plastic miniature based on the original metal sculpt.
- The resculpt released under the same product code (20-860). I am not sure how this differs from the original sculpt.
- The new plastic sculpt released by CGL as part of the Assault Lance Pack. I do not know which metal sculpt this is based on. (I suspect it is based on the sculpt used in the Quick-Start Lance Pack.)
- A sculpt for the VTR-9K2 from XTRO: Pirates (CE-006).
A relative newcomer, the
Lu Wei Bing only has a single sculpt (20-5121).
Please share any
Victors or
Lu Wei Bings you have painted. We'd all love to see them.
As always, thank you for reading and especially thank you to those of you who will post.
Our next two fortnights will be: (Dates are approximations)
- Clan (2/25): Vapor Eagle (Goshawk)
- Inner Sphere (3/11): Clint
