Oosik Irregulars, First Battalion, Echo Lance
« on: 03 October 2018, 10:22:30 »
My slow, slow progress to bring the now-canon Oosiks to life (on the table) continues.  This makes 5 of 9 lances complete in the battalion.  Over halfway done!

Of course, being mercenary rides, each is customized to its pilot's preferential weapons loadout.  In some cases, more extremely (Mauler, ahem) than others.

Looking good. Do you have stats for the Mauler and Catapult?

Indeed! And great work on a challenging colour scheme too!

I hadn't realised the Oosiks had made it to the Invasion era ;)

You can find record sheets for post-Invasion era builds, and "downgraded" 3025-tech versions, at my Google drive through this link!

Thanks!  And don't believe the DCMS slander campaign.  They say we were killed off by the end of the Second Succession War, but our well-maintained 'Mechs and full beer fridges say otherwise. ;)

Excellent work!  That looks like it was quite the challenge. 8) 8)  What did you use for the orange?  It stands out nicely!

Bonus points for sticking it to the DCMS! >:D

It was certainly my most challenging painting project so far!  The orange was a real bugbear, too, because the color paint I wanted was super thin, and required so many layers to get there.  In the end, it went something like:

Base Layers of Vallejo Game Color Extraopaque Heavy Orange (even as a pigment-dense mix, this took at least two layers over the blue.)
Reaper MSP Explosion Orange (the actual color I was aiming for.  Also, super-duper thin out of the bottle.  Again, too many layers to count.)
Highlight with Vallejo Game Color Orange Fire (just a touch)

The whole model (the colored parts, anyway) were panel-lined in Citadel Seraphim Sepia.

Despite the number of layers to make it work, I am really happy how it turned out.  I'm still learning how to freehand straight-line edges (I'm in a bit of dread for when I do the Lyran and Feddie lances I have, so many straight lines), and while there's some wobbliness if you look close enough, at arms-length they look pretty sharp.
