Ok, so preparing for a large I.S. engagement with some others players at a company level.  I need to build the best, most efficient company I can from the pieces I have at my disposal (because of some issues from a previous game, no proxies allowed).  So, I need some help.  I'm decent at organizing on the Clan side but not confident about my I.S. skills.  Can you give me a hand?

Criteria: 1 Mech Company.  As thoroughly Steiner as possible.  As strong/efficient as possible. No Era or Time Period restrictions.

Mechs Available -

Light: Wolfhound, Spider, Jenner, Panther, Anubis
Medium: Assassin, Cicada, Vindicator, Hunchback, Griffin, Wolverine, Starslayer, Nightsky, Hatchetman, Phoenix Hawk
Heavy: Archer, Axman
Assault: Annihilator, Atlas, Berserker, Cyclops, Battlemaster, Hauptman, Nightstar, Cerberus

Also, if you have any thoughts as to support troops for this company. I have a platoon of infantry, but am allowed up to one support company, infantry not included.

Thanks in advance!

what BV limit?
it would also help if we knew the likely mission/scenario and the kind of terrain your likely to fight on.

the wolfhound, Griffin, Nightsky, Hatchetman, Axman, Atlas, battlemaster, and Hauptman are all well known mechs used by Steiner, and have some good variants.

No BV limit, just a company on company series of fight.  Random terrain...

check out the TRO 3085 Infantry, the Lyrans have some of the nastiest heavy infantry in the damn book, and the Anti Personell specialists are no slouch either.

Well, it looks like one assault lance and one medium-heavy and one medium-light lance would be in order.
For assault I would pick four of Atlas, Berserker, Hauptmann, Battlemaster and Nightstar. While Annihilator is manufactured on Arc-Royal it is a liability due to its speed. Cerberus and Cyclops do not really have a Lyran feel even if they are plausible.

From light, only Wolfhound seems plausible.
From heavy, both works.
That would mean you need at least five mediums.
I would take at least Starslayer, Griffin, Nightsky and Hatchetman which are all Lyran built.
The last medium is a bit harder to pick: One of Hunchback, Phoenix Hawk or Wolverine maybe? Or take five assaults instead?

If only these mechs are allowed, i would take the following ones:

1. Lance
1.1. Atlas AS7-S2
1.2. Hauptmann (A, C or E, depending on terrain or preferences)
1.3. Nightstar NSR-9J
1.4. Archer ARC-6S

2. Lance
2.1. Berserker BRZ-C3
2.2. Battlemaster BLR-4S
2.3. Axman AXM-3S
2.4. Griffin GRF-6S

3. Lance
3.1. Starslayer STY-3D
3.2. Nightsky NGS-6T
3.3. Phoenix Hawk PHX-7S
3.4. Hatchetman HCT-7S

Nightsky 6T is a refit from the TRO 3085, the Hatchetman 7S a totally refit from the same book. If they are not available, i would opt for a Nightsky 4S (one of the few occassions where pulse lasers can save the day) and a Hatchetman 6S or a Wolfhound 3S.
