(Answered) VTOLs, Ferro-Lamellor, and Damage Reduction
« on: 17 September 2020, 10:44:21 »
Hi,

Total Warfare p.196, under the VTOL hit table, states that rotors take damage equal to "Damage Value / 10 (round up). Additionally, damage to the rotors slows down the VTOL. Each hit reduces the VTOL’s Cruising MP by 1"

Ferro-Lamellor rules (on page 94, TacOp: AU&E) state that "If that location has a separate damage reduction method (such as spikes, or being a rotor), the damage reduction from Ferro-Lamellor Armor is applied last."

and

"...against Combat and Support Vehicles, such weapons [refering to weapons that deal 0 damage] may inflict Motive System damage effects normally (because such units feature more exposed movement mechanisms)."

If I'm understanding things correctly, a VTOL rotor protected by Ferro-Lamellor armor, when struck by an AC/10, would suffer no damage. However, would the VTOL still suffer an automatic -1 MP due to the Rotor hit?

The -1 MP still applies even with no damage.
