Alpha Strike Unit Building: Kickstarter wave 1 & 2
« on: 30 October 2020, 14:50:02 »
so with my wave 1 figures, i think i'd like to work up a clan Binary or Trinary (~500 pv?) for my Alpha Strike forces. kind of a showpiece force for the kickstarter figures.

i wound up with a lot of mechs i've rarely used before in my rewards, so figured i should get help figuring out what to take. since it is AS i'm not really worried about WYSIWYG issues, but it would be nice to have a force that actually is suitably nasty in a fight.

Mist Lynx
2x Adder
2x Viper
Ice Ferret
Grendel
Nova
Mad Dog
Hellbringer
Summoner
2x Timber Wolf
Gargoyle
Executioner

2x elemental points.

and what Invading/IS clan would these fit best, so i can go hunting for paint scheme options for them.

The multiple Dragonflies makes it slightly more Ghost Bear than anything else, but that's only by a tiny degree. Really any of the Invading Clans would work with that mix

ghost bear sounds workable.

i'd considered sticking the Mist Lynx, Vipers, and Ice Ferret together as a fast moving Star.. perhaps with the Grendel as a 5th? they all seem pretty close in terms of movement curve.

Star 1 (scouting, harassing)
Viper
Viper
Ice Ferret
Mist Lynx
Grendel

PV: 191 (191)

Star 2 (fire support)
Adder
Adder
Hellbringer
Mad Dog
Summoner

PV: 189 (380)

Star 3 (line unit, heavy cav)
Timber Wolf
Timber Wolf
Gargoyle w/elemental
Executioner
Nova w/elemental

PV: 270 (650)

That’s with all primes and basic skill 4.
A binary might be better suited for the points if you’re wanting to run clan warriors in them.  It that’s more or less how I would organize them

that was the plan. just wasn't sure how the points would end up on the lighter units.

playing around on the MUL's force builder.. Star 1 and 2 there fit well. make the 5 heavier umechs skill 2, the rest skill 3, and it is 499pv. so an elite unit.

playing around a bit.. i think i may turn the third Star with the heavies into a seperate unit. i have a pair of Svantovits and some protomechs that can easily make a star when added to the elementals. A very Hell's Horse style unit.

so it would be
Timber Wolf Prime (skill 3)
Timber Wolf Prime (skill 3)
Gargoyle Prime (Skill 3)
Executioner Prime (skill 3)
Nova Prime (skill 4)

elemental point (AP Gauss) (Skill 3)
elemental point (AP Gauss) (Skill 3)
Svantovit (Standard) (Skill 4)
Svantovit (Standard) (Skill 4)
Roc (Standard) x5 (Skill 4)
Satyr (Standard) x5 (Skill 4)

comes to 498pv.

ok so in wave 2 i got the two comstar packs.. the Battle and Command Lv II's.

i want to do use them as a ~500pv unit that can be employed as a "reborn comguard" unit from the Dark Ages, with the option for use them as a WoB force in earlier era play. so i'm aiming to avoid any variants dating post-jihad, but with the stuff i have to work with, i doubt it'll be a big issue.

the mechs are Crab, Crockett, Flashman, Guillotine, Lancelot, Mongoose, Black Knight, Exterminator, Highlander, King Crab, Mercury, Sentinel
i also have a spare Stinger from wave 1's IS force (from the command lance.. which i replaced with a 2nd archer because i got Kell's legendary)

i also have the following odd figures out which i figure might fit with the combined arms approach of the comguard and WoB

Achileus Battle Armor (mwda figure)
Musketeer hovertank (Steel warrior studios mini)
Manticore Tank (Steel warrior studios mini)
Bulldog-AC (Steel warrior studios mini)
3x Galleon Light Tank (reseen, IWM)
8x Gabriel scout hovertanks (IWM)

i tried awhile back (before remembering the non-mech options i had) and had trouble figuring out AS lance formations.

this is as far as i got..
Code: [Select]
Lv.II Alpha
PV Model Mech Role Skill spec
----------------------------------------------------------------------
MCY-102 Mercury Scout C3i
STG-5R Stinger Scout
MON-66 Mongoose Scout
STN-3L Sentinel Scout
FLS-9C Flashman Skirmisher C3i
EXT-4C Exterminator Skirmisher

Lv.II Beta
PV Model Mech Role Skill
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
KGC-008 King Crab Sniper C3i
HGN-736 Highlander Sniper C3i
CRB-27 Crab Sniper
LNC25-06 Lancelot Sniper C3i
CRK-5005-1 Crockett Sniper C3i
BL-6b-KNT Black Knight Brawler

not sure i like using the -008 king crab though. (would prefer the -000b or -001 clanbuster) but at the time i didn't have my AS companion and couldn't be sure if a juggernaught would fit a formation with snipers and brawlers. honestly this was probably a rubbish effort.
