Speck, any word on the Commando and Thunderbolt Variants?   ???  I checked page 1 of this thread, and comments in November 2020 were mentioning them being in the works.  But then later "A Snag" had occurred, and they were delayed, and we've heard nothing more about them since.   :'(

In a post from 21 FEB, 2021, you mention a Wolverine Variant.  Did we ever get that?  Or is that the -1R/-3R blister?   ???

I believe the Wolverine Variant is the Wolverine 6R/6D mini that's currently scheduled for Winter 21 release.

Speck, could I ask what's up with the Raider? Kinda sad to see the Viking IIC getting released sooner, when the Raider was funded earlier. Is there an unavoidable holdup?

Still in the works, need to get an update on those and the Awesome and BattleMaster.

Wolverine is now out and there are other variants in a web only release coming soon.

Kind of want to ask about the Defender as well. But I know I'll get the same answer!

That is very close to being completed by the sculptor.

Pardon my ignorance, but why was the atlas II resculpted and why does it differ from the TRO art?

TRO art is precisely why there a resculpt. This is my own opinion, but it was ugly. Not in good scary way.  Later renditions of Atlas II such as on the cover of the original Strategic Operations certainly improve the Mech appearance. From that Dark Vader without a helmet cartoon look to what was done in Legends.

Plus, the mini was not a good match to the TRO art: The head and upper waist are significantly elongated, making it look rather awkward. The upper waist is also much wider than the art, and the arms/shoulders are attached too high up on the torso. It can be corrected, but is about as intimidating as the 2nd metal Atlas sculpt.

The new Atlas II artwork looks much better than the new Atlas artwork. Head proportions and positioning are spot on.

I'm excited whenever IWM releases a new miniature, even if it is a resculpt of a fairly new miniature.  Although... I think the original Atlas II miniature is 10 years old now?  And technology has really improved IWM's ability to make  models with better scaling and detail.

It sounds like we've got the following miniatures on the immediate horizon:
AWS-8Q Awesome (Classic design from AGoAC)
BLR-1G Battlemaster (Classic design from AGoAC)
Defender (Warship from Field Manual 2765 - AFFS)
Thunderbolt variant (TDR-5SE? TDR-7M?)
Commando variant (COM-3A? COM-3S?)
Raider (TRO 3150)

Would not be surprised to see a Savage Wolf resculpt come out in 2022, along with remaining ilClan sourcebook mechs like the Jade Phoenix and Ion Sparrow.

The original Atlas II was really awful. I am sorry to say that but they really dropped the ball. The threatening head? Looks more like a pig head. The neck looks more like a cowl and the miniature looks as if it was strechted. Don't get me wrong.. you can make it look nice. It took me 2 days of adding extra pieces for that.

The original art was way better and then we had the fantastic art from the Legends book. The new miniature is a great improvement and, finally, does justice to the Atlas II. Well done from IWM to improve the miniature.

I saw a heavily modified Atlas II on the CSO website, was painted by GunjiNoKanrei in in Stone's Lament colors, presumably Devlin Stone's own mech.  Was that your work?  That was my favorite iteration of the Atlas II until now.  I spent considerable time magnetizing and painting up my Atlas II but I've only had it on the game board once...  Anyways, i'll definitely be picking up an Atlas II in my next order from IWM.

I've not been active on tabletop front for a while due to no local groups to play with (and my paints died....) so I'm actually forward to getting the new Atlas II, Defender Battlecruiser, and the Raider.
