Editing my posts replaces certain characters

I sometimes type my forum posts on an iPad. I’m using one to start this very thread, actually; my iPad tends to replace apostrophes and quotation marks with special versions; in the latter case, a quote and end-quote version, as it’s context sensitive.

However, when I need to make an edit to posts that I typed on my iPad, the resulting post replaces those characters and some others I’ve used with some sort of code, and I have to replace them by hand with more standard versions of the punctuation.

Am I going to have to avoid contractions altogether like a Clanner to avoid this problem unless or until it gets fixed? ;D

i find on iOS that if i do the quick edit in the lower right, it's what causes the issue. if i use 'modify' at the top, i don't get the substitution

Well, let’s try it – I’ll edit this post that way and see what happens.

It happens on PCs too every now and then, at least from what I've seen.  Not that that's a good thing...
