“Roger that Yang.” To the other units. “Jemma to all units we will split into fast and slow units. The fast units will move to Fune at best speed of the slowest unit and the slow units will do the same. The Ghosts will escort the civilian vehicles.”
“Who will be in charge of the fast group?” Asks MechWarrior Hozumi.
“The fast group will be under Adept Wood’s command if she does not mind.”
“I have no problem as long as none of the others do.”
“You are in charge Adept and that is that. Your group will be your unit with MechWarrior Hozumi, Lieutenant Boltey, Sergeant Chen’s Condor, Sergeant Major Franks Maxim, Cadet Amber, our Cavalry and Sergeant Sandra. The slower group will be with me the Partisan, MechWarriors Westergren and Brahe, Sergeant Niekisch, Sergeant Lincoln and the Pilum, Staff Sergeant Tereshakaya and Lieutenant Blacktyde. All units will stay in contact with each other. Keep in mind that we have a Karnov, Heavy APC, Blizzard and a Wasp that may or may not be moving on Fune. Our job is that if they attack Fune they do not get to cause large amounts of damage to the city or the people. If we destroy or take them that works also, but we protect the people and property of Fune.”
“Captain going by how you are splitting the groups the fast group and the convoy will get to Fune at the same time.” Yang offers up. “Maybe have the Cadet and your Sargent Sandra will be part of the escort group. This way the strike unit will be able to move at 90 kph as opposed to 80 kph. This will let the escort group act as reinforcements if they do raid Fune.”
“That sounds good Sho-ko we will do that. Swift group do not punch over you weight you do have support.”

We have gotten word of a bandit raid at Fune. They attacked the Bank of Nejiro and Jewelry Galleria. As we find out more we will keep you informed.

Furne has been raided by bandits. We have seen reports that bandits robbed the Bank of Nejiro and Jewelry Galleria located in the city. No one was hurt and the NPO is looking into the matter.

OK so the next mission will have the GSF looking to bring in Nakazawa's Militia forces that are in the area.
We would like them to come in with out trouble be if they do not please take care on the toys they have as we will need them for the new security/militia force in the area.

Walking through the repair center Precentor Wilkes stops were the Pegasus salvage is stored. “So what do you think do we keep or us them for parts?”
“Well sir they are all repairable, it will just take time and parts.”
“So I will take that as keep ‘em.”
‘Yes sir. Hay and his crew did find some real gems for us. When these are on line they can replace some of the older units. I think you should pick the one you want and start running some sim training on that model.”
“Sounds like a good idea I might even be qualified by the time it’s on line.”
“I make sure whatever unit you want will be on line when you are ready for it sir.”





“So Chu-i what do you think? How long for all this to be on line?”
“Well sir it all took major damage and getting parts for some of them will take time to get out this way. The time frame will mostly be up to how long it takes to get the need parts out here. I do have to say that the Pegasus team did will in what they found for us. They will serve Nejiro well when they are working. It is also good that those kids are working with us, they do know how to handle a wrench and how these toys work.”

“So the equipment that you brought back is repairable. We will need to get most all of the hi-end equipment and parts from off world. The good thing with Metal Storm working form here it will make for placing the orders faster.”
“I will want these on line first. The other items as the field commander sees fit.” She hands the list to her Chief Tech.
“Yes mam I have teams already working on them.” Handing the list to Kashira Sato. “These will be your problem.”
“I will need to have some of Burūsutōmu techs help with them.”





“Well the Pegasus crew did real well with the salvage. We will look like a real unit when it is all on line.” Everett looks over the list of salvaged equipment once more.
“Take it easy with the on line part. We will need to import a lot of parts from your list and that will take some time. We will not have a lot of it running for a long time. When we do get it operational I may rotate some things in to have some of the other units get some down time for major overhauls. We cannot afford to have all this plus what we already have on line all at the same time. With the needed normal repairs plus combat damage we do not have the staff or funds. It will be good to have the choice and some reserve gear for the unit.”
“Can we pull all the lights out of service ….. get the unit too true fighting weight?”
“You have been reading too many novels. We need the lighter units just as much as anything. They give us QRF that we did not have back home. They also give us a recon team that we need out here. So far out here speed has worked well and I like having it in my command.”
“Yes Mam.”
“I think we will need to setup a repair area for all this new gear. I will have the engineers build something in Starfall. I want you to work with them so that it can store the extra units and work as a repair shop.”

“Well sir it is all units we can use and it is all serviceable with time and money. We have the talent to get it all back on line. The only problem I see is that just we can’t have it all on line at the same time. The cost and people need to run it all, some of them will need to be put in mothballs so if we have something go done we can stay at full force.”
“I was thinking the same. The money is good but not that good for all this. So get it repaired and I may let some swap into one of these. We will then place the older unit in reserve.”
“Very good sir, I will have my people get on this right away.”

“Well we do need the newer gear for the unit and having the backup also works well for us. Also the crew worked hard to pull these out and bring them home. I was just thinking you might sell some of the older equipment.”
“Now I see. No I cannot sell many of the older units unless their owners want to sell them to me for some of these newer units … and yes brother you did well on the mission and your hard work will be of great use for us.”





At the mine the rotation of garrison unit from Winter’s Dream will that place. The new units will spend a week with the units on station to get brought up to speed on what has been going on.

She made sure many DCMS warriors and troopers returned to the Combine so they could keep serving the Dragon. She has seen to it that the DCA can keep using this world. That woman was asked to stay but when she showed that the need here was greater and that here she can and would serve the Dragon better they asked her to stay on the rolls of the Dragons warriors. They asked her to serve and she has done so well above what was asked and do so for as long as she draws breath. You and your small minded brothers in arms do not want to see this and what is really going on around them.”

This is not your idea of what or how a Samurai is. This is not what you call the Periphery. This is the deep Periphery and one has to move past such things or you will be dead. “The Combine might. But with what forces. At what cost? The Combine has many enemies at its gates and it will take them some time to get the need forces out this way. The light forces they have here now may or may not buy the time needed. But why should they as you said before this is not a Combine world.”
“They would, this world has strong ties to the Combine and the true Dragon would send help.”
“He would? How when he has many problems much closer to home. Some of these problems are you and your brothers making.”

“So with all the equipment we have what are we going to do?”
“Well if the locals do not have a problem we should see about getting some space and setting up shop.”

“Well we know that the Kokuryu-kai have a Whitworth 2 from the scans we have of them but we were attacked by a force with a Whitworth 1.”

“Well we did not pick up the signals from the Artemis fire control that is part of the 2 model. Also watching the video from the attack both pilots have a better skill at piloting the ‘Mechs then and of the Kokuryu-kai we have seen so far.”
“So you and the others think that WoB is setting us up?”
“Does look that way, if they get us to move on them it would start more problems for us and the Governor.”
“Well until the little ferret crosses the line or she finds something yes.”
“So what do you want us to do?”
“Keep looking over that intel and see if you can find more for us to use. I also want patrols doubled, have Winter’s Dream work the closer patrols to base and we will work the outer ones. If WoB wants to play we will play as well. Make sure that the ground pounders are setup in case WoB or that ferret try pulling something.”

Nejiro News 1
Word has gotten out that Lord Nakazawa has been taken in custody by GSF units with help from the DCMS. Word also has the government getting ready for a trial with the charge of treason to Nejiro as the main charge. If all this is true Yousai will be the place all will be keeping an eye on. As we find out more we will keep you informed.

We have informed sources telling us off the record that Isao Nazakawa will be facing charges of treason. We have been told by the same sources that the trial will have others as defendants on this and other charges.

We have word that Isao Nazakawa will be facing trial after he was taken from his Shiro by GSF and DCMS forces. We will bring you coverage of the trial when it is set.

Fuka stared up at the Battlemech, daydreaming as she often did when she was thinking about a new machine.  Although her Drowning had made her more serious about her job, she still couldn't resist "fan-girling" over a unique 'Mech.  The Black Knight that had just been delivered to the base from the mission to Pegasus was scarred, beat up and was in dire need of repairs after surviving an orbital bombardment from the Word of Blake, but the lineage of the machine was written on the data-slate she held in her hands.  This was no ordinary Black Knight, after all.  The 'Mech was a Royal Battlemech Regiment variant, which made it more than 300 years old, predating the fall of the First Star League.  As such, she dreamed of who could have piloted it into the horrible battles of those days.  Could it have been some great hero of the League, such as the legendary Elizabeth Hazen herself?  Sure, she would become one of the founders of the Jade Falcon clan, but before that, she was a hero of the Civil War against the Usurper and a well-known Black Knight pilot.  Perhaps one of the famed Gunslingers drove this?  What fighting had it seen?  How did Comstar get their hands on it and from whom?  Fuka was so caught up in her thoughts that she completely ignored the voice that was calling to her from behind.

Fuka jumped as she looked about.  Standing there behind her was a very young woman, barely out of adolescence.  She was more than a few centimeters taller than her, wearing spandex shorts, a sports bra and sneakers, and holding a bottle of water.  She was extremely sweaty, like she'd just come off a run around the camp, her auburn hair matted against her face and tied back into a ponytail.  She looked familiar, like a relative of someone she knew.  She wasn't a Botley, like Maria or Isolde, that much Fuka could tell.  Maybe a Blacktyde, based on her blue eyes and slightly Nordic features.  In fact, she kind of looked a little like the Colonel and his brother.

The girl gave her a sly smile and asked.  "Do you two need some alone time?"

"Huh?  Oh, sorry."  Fuka said, scratching her head.  Clearing her throat, she returned, "Do you need help with something?  You really shouldn't be here without permission."

"Oh, I'm allowed here."  The girl replied.  "I just turned 18 two weeks ago, which means I'm old enough to check out which ride's going to be mine one day."

"I'm...sorry," Fuka was confused.  "What does you being 18 have to do with anything?  Wait.  Are...you a Blacktyde?"

"On my mother's side, I am."  The girl answered.  "But my father is Victarion Greyjoy.  Sorry, I didn't introduce myself.  I'm Audra.  Audra Greyjoy.  Pleased to meet you."  She held out a hand to Fuka, who took it and bowed.

"I'm Fuka Hiyami.  Glad to meet you, Audra-san.  So...if Victarion-sama is your father, then that must mean Freyja-sama is your mother."

"Yep."  Audra nodded.  "Everybody says I look more like my mom than my dad, even though my hair's darker than her's or my uncle Jurgen's.  I have a little sister too, Mira, who looks more like my dad.  So I guess we each got the best features of one of our parents, at least.  So, Fuka-san, what's got you so dreamy-eyed over this 'Mech in particular?"

Fuka exclaimed.  "It's because it's a Royal Black Knight, from the Star League era.  It's literally older than any other machine on the base.  We "rescued" it from the Word of Blake, along with the other 'Mechs currently in line for repair. A.  Literal.  Piece.  Of.  History.  And it's standing in MY 'Mech bay, ready to be nursed back to life.  Who knows?  Maybe the Colonel will let me drive it. Driving a Royal 'Mech," She began to bob up and down on her tiptoes, "it would be such an honor."

Audra took note of Fuka's highly energetic state and nodded.  "Uh-huh."  She got a little closer to Fuka and whispered in her ear.  "Soooo...you wanna take a closer look at the cockpit?  Maybe, jump inside for a couple minutes?  I bet they'd let you check 'er out no problem."

Fuka's eyes lit up at the proposition.  She turned toward Audra.  "Yes.  I do, but I'd have to ask Julia-nee-san first.  It shouldn't be a problem, though.  At least, I don't think it would be."

"Sure."  Said Audra.  "Lead the way.  I've been meaning to meet the tech staff anyways."

Fuka lead Audra away to where she could find Julia.

Both Harald and Julia are going over the recovered equipment from the Pegasus mission. “Well it is a good thing that these things come with tech manuals and some helping hands.” Harald looks at Julia.
“The older ones will be getting some hands on sooner than later. What orbital bombardment does is just wrong and these were dug out from hardened hangers.” Looking over the ‘mechs.
“Good thing the salvage crews picked up as much as they did. From what I was told by them anything that was out in the open is just a stain on the ground.”
“The good news is when is all said and done we will be in good shape. I also know that someone has eye on that.” She points to one of the ‘Mechs. “She will be such a royal pain to have it back in service ASAP.”
“True that. But as she just got her ride she will have to cool her jets. Somehow I think that one of these two will be what goes on line first.” He points to two others.
“With all that is happening I think you are correct. The firepower and recon are very much needed now.”
“We will need to get the electronic toys from off world so I will put a call into Metal Storm to see what they can do.”
“You should talk with the others as well, if we all kick in at the same time shipping will be better and we just might get that stuff cheaper. That hole volume thing.”
“Right I will get on that.”

"Oh, hey Fuka."  Julia said back.  At the sight of Audra, though, Julia stiffens, her eyes narrowing.  Ignoring the presence of the Greyjoy girl, she asks Fuka.  "What can I do for you?" 

Fuka, although internally excited, endeavors to calm herself.  "Audra-san and I were wondering if we can get a peek inside the Royal Black Knight?  I was also wondering if you knew anything about any of its previous history?"

Audra smiled at Julia, prompting the tech to grab Fuka's arm.  "Can we speak in private for moment?"  Fuka, not understanding what was going on, allowed herself to be led away as Audra just stuck out her tongue at Julia as they left.

Once they were alone, Julia told Fuka.  "Look, I don't mind you having a look at the 'Mech.  I trust you.  I don't trust your new acquaintance."

"But...why?"

"Because Audra has been caught causing problems around the base."  Julia explained.

Fuka was confused.  "What problems?"

Julia sighed.  "She's been caught on camera causing random mischief around the base.  Mostly harmless pranks.  Toilets backing up, water pipes loosened, people stepping on Legos, that sort of thing."  She paused before continuing.  "Freyja once told me every Norse family has a Loki.  A trickster.  Somebody who loves causing problems.  And in her family, Audra's the Loki.  Hence, I don't trust her anywhere near my babies and you shouldn't either."

"But, she's a Greyjoy.  She's related to the Colonel." Fuka countered.

"Yeah, but she's also half Blacktyde."  Julia replied.  "A Norse family if there ever was one.  Plus, her parents were almost never around when she was younger because they were always out in the field.  So she acts out in order to get their attention.  The Colonel doesn't know this because he didn't really take part in her upbringing.  But since she's been causing problems for me and the staff, I know the truth.  That little b*tch doesn't go anywhere near my machines, got it?"

Fuka was taken aback, not used to this level of anger from her nee-san.  "She said she was allowed in the hangar because she just turned 18."  She offered.

"She did just turn 18."  Julia confirmed.  "But I don't want her breaking the stuff we're trying to fix."

Fuka thought about it, then nodded.  "I'll...just tell her you said no."

"Be careful around Audra."  Julia finished.  "If she tries to rope you into anything, let me or the Colonel know, okay?"

"Hai, nee-san."  Fuka replied before returning to Audra.

"Julia-san says the cockpit is being repaired, so we can't go in.  Gomen, Audra-san."  She told the younger woman.

Audra just shook out her hair, not showing any emotion.  "Eh, it's fine.  I need to go shower anyway.  See you around, though, Fuka."  She specifically left out the honorific as she jogged her way out of the hangar bay toward the living quarters.

“She has instructed that we speak with you about the heavy equipment as that is more of your area of expertise.” Isoroku takes back the data pad.
“I will offer that after these units are repaired the be held in reserve so that if one of the units now in service takes major damage one of these can fill the gap. It would be best if what is now the house hold guard cross train on them so that they and use them. These salvage units are much heavier and at some time be swapped for the lighter units now in service and the lighter units then placed as the reserve units.”
“Very good I will pass this along to her.”

“Just see to it that they do not forget they do have other duties.”

“So with the full damage reports in the Tech want to work on this one first as you will not move up.”
Looking at the reports Wilkes shakes his head. “Some of the other units will be of more use to defending this world.
“With all due respect sir all of us have to disagree with you. If you are unable to take to the field we will lose a major edge we have in dealing with WoB. Also you would be able to switch up what ride you are using, further forcing WoB to re-think what they are doing.”
“OK, so in what order are the techs looking to bring this equipment back on line?”
“Well sir as for now we are more defending the more mobile equipment. When we move to an attack posture then the heavier units will be of more use.”
“OK that will make for better use of what we have on hand.”
“I will talk with Major Franks about getting some of the items need for your extra ride as it will need a full set.”





“Sister the support staff wants to start work on this first.” Po Tsai points to one of the units just in from Pegasus.
“OK but why? Would not this be of better service?” Pointing to the heavier unit.
“Yes and no sister. The firepower would be of great use but we do not have anyone that can pilot it well. This unit will serve you better and it let you have a backup in case of major damage in the field. Also Alexander could pilot this one as he too knows this unit.”
“Very well. I do want that on line ASAP as well. We do need that base of fire.”
