(Answered) Omnimech Refit Kits
« on: 26 October 2021, 22:38:45 »
So I was thumbing through the refit rules and errata from SO and noticed that in all the examples, non omni units were utilized for the customization, so just to clarify:
Do omnimechs still follow the A,B,C,D,E,F Refit rules as non-omni mechs, when swapping from one variant to the next? (SO Page 188)

So for example, swapping from a Warhawk Prime to a Warhawk C would be (Swap ER PPC for Large Pulse Laser - A) X2, (Replace LRM 10 with Flamer - B), (Move Flamer to CT - C), (add 3 DHS - B)

As a followup, the refit time is still cut down extensively because the work is being done is on Omnipods, rather than the weapons directly (assuming no additional repairs need to be done), right?

That ruleset has been superseded by the revised version found in the new (second) printing of Campaign Operations.  However, the rules for omni pods have not changed.  You don't refit an omnimech: instead you switch pods.  Each location switched requires 30 minutes, per the Replacement section of the Master Repair Table, bypassing the Class-based refit rules.  There's no explicit text that says this, unfortunately: it's just a table entry.  I'll see about making that explicit in a future printing.

Oooooh. Okay. Yeah, having that be a little more clear will definitely help in the future.

Ultimately, the question was eventually going to boil down to 'how extensive of a facility is needed to swap omni variants', but if it bypasses the refit class system... makes sense.

Appreciate it!
