Something different: Vor Firegut One Horn
« on: 17 December 2021, 23:33:36 »
Uhm... why didn't anyone tell me how awesome these Vor minis are?

I bought this Firegut One Horn Growler 20 years ago because it was RP and Fasa from the local gamestore. Finally decided to paint it for the local Pathfinder group in the hopes of helping the DM kill a particularly Type A player. I'm doing a fast job just to paint it, but I kind of regret rushing it just to get it done. It will be handled by like 10 people so I know it won't last, but... damn, what a mini.

I'll be sure to post the completed mini. Maybe even this weekend

I remember playing that game when it came out. My brother and I still have out Union and Neo Soviets, but some of the other races.

Man, this miniature is sick. What a shame Vor seems to be stuck in permanent limbo. Those Growler designs seem great.

Rather than a new thread I figured I would just bump this one. I painted two more for my group's game. I have some more to go, but these are really cool miniatures. I'm glad IWM still has them on offer.

These are pups, the smallest of the Growlers. On the right is a Firegut pup; on the left is either a Whitetusk or a Razorback pup.

They look a bit more mature than pups... maybe a pic with them next to the adult? :)

There is enough metal in some of these miniatures to kill someone.

From left to right:
Top row: pups, Bluefang one horn (juvenile)
Bottom row: Whitetusk momma, Whitetusk bull, Razorback bull known as "Leapy"

One of these days, I'll get around to them all.

A little Bluefang pup added. They have bellies so big they drag on the ground.

How do they compare in size to Battlemechs?

Part of me would think they would make for great kaijus in some scenarios... as soon as I could find some stats and rules to work them in to Battletech with.  It would take me back to WarMaHordes for a little bit (Battletech is first played and first loved, though).

The little ones, the pups, were supplied with 25mm round bases.
I think the bigger ones were on 50mm rounds.

I think they can definitely work as Kaiju!

The juvenile One Horn is a Bluefang, which are smaller than the Razorbacks or others. Due to the size and weight, you'll need the large base. Hex maps are probably out, but for 3D terrain it will definitely work.

Once you get to the mamas, bulls, and chieftains mechs get pretty small in comparison. It would be a cool set of rules to implement though!
