While I don't dispute the facts of the costs of shipping being unfun, that feels like kind of a negative way of viewing it. This feels to me like CGL is doing everything in their (decidedly not infinite) power to try and get the cool extra gift that no one was expecting out to folks who might otherwise have missed it, and that feels like something worth applauding. Before this Wave 1 folks were unable to get a Shilone, now there is an avenue for the Shilone to be delivered, though it might not make logistical sense for everyone. That still feels like positive movement to me.
I agree that this is a positive movement for people who live in "mainstream" countries, and who already had seen benefits in paying lower shipping fees and hadn't have to contend with import taxes on top of everything else. It's a better outcome in the end that people who are able to use the offered options to get them, to do it.
For people from "out-of-the-way" countries, who had to pay 2-3 times more for shipping fees for their KS rewards, plus import fees on top of the KS value + shipping, and still be missing a product that has been given for free or can be acquired with ease for others, it sucks.
If you live in a country that doesn't fall under major distribution networks for kickstarters, you are disadvantaged, as evidenced by this kickstarter.
That is simply the truth of it, and unless you bite the bullet and get burned there is no other way to learn that as beginner. Nobody talks about it, because why should they scare of potential backers that would increase the chances of the kickstarter's success?
If there are 5% of people who didn't get their stuff at all, or got defective stuff, or a missing parts of their orders, who cares, as long as 90>% are satisfied. Kickstarter is a success.
