Battlemech art edits
« on: 26 October 2022, 21:50:46 »
Not much to see here, just putting PPCs on an Archer.  Why?  Why not.  Not satisfied with the clunky way the left elbow is, but I'm pretty limited in my art skills.  Redrawing is not going to happen.

I wonder how this would look as a mini.

Ooh, I like that.  It's got enough heat sinks to throw an alpha strike for only +2, even...I might step the rear ERMLs down to ERSLs and add one more heat sink if you have the crits, just to go neutral on a full doomspray.

Also, I added a Rifleman's arms to an Archer here.  Only the top half of the image because I can't redraw the knee; the original Archer art has its hand in the way and there's just too much detail to get right.

An MWO Archer with Thumper cannons, from this post.

I swear I'll do something other than Archers.
All right, I couldn't resist...
The Archerhammer reminds me a lot of the Warhammer IIC 2, the one with the LRMs in the torso.  Also feel free to post those over in the Mech Design board, too.

And since a Hunchback was suggested as an artillery mech elsethread, here it is.  I looked at the housing for the HBK's autocannon and the way it's drawn it looks like it's a retractable housing; I ended up drawing it that way with it pulled back to allow the main gun to elevate.  Travel would lower the barrel and close the housing.  The art is from the MUL, with the artillery piece of the Helepolis used for the Thumper.

I won't lie, Kamas. That is some sweet artwork/editing. Seriously nice work.
Thought I might get a rocket ride when I was a child.          We are the wild youth,                                And through villages of ether
But it was a lie, that I told myself                                          Chasing visions of our futures.                   Oh, my crucifixion comes
When I needed something good.                                         One day we'll reveal the truth,                    Will you sing my hallelujah?
At 17, I had a better dream; now I'm 33, and it isn't me.      That one will die before he gets there.       Will you tell me when it's done?
But I'd think of something better if I could

Thank you, I am mostly pleased with it myself.  I'll have to come up with more somehow.

Meanwhile, a unit patch for Wieczorek's Archers, an all-Archer mercenary unit working for the Lyrans.  Where they come from is being worked out over in Non-Canon Units.

I love that Thumper Hunchback!  I had done a "Thumpback" a while ago, and would be honored if you cross-posted that art there...  :)

Done, good sir.  Maybe I'll do an MWO version as well, though I'll have to find something suitable to use as a Thumper.  For the MWO Archer, I used a Thor's gun...I suppose I could sink the same thing into the housing of an MWO HBK's big torso box.

I found a giant version of the MWO Archer concept art and it was all one color, so that made photoshopping it into the command 'Mech for Wieczorek's Archers.  Knight One, the Wehrwolf, an ARC-2S with LRM15s in the upper shoulders and SRM-4s in the low front.  I also kept the forward facing CT lasers; this is a 'Mech that leads a unit and is always going to have a buddy to fire on anything that gets behind it.  Maybe that means the ARC-2S can cook itself with a short range barrage, but I can live with that in 3025 play.  Overall color for the unit is Star League green, Wieczorek is a fangirl of the old Star League and is proud of her antique 'Mechs.

Yes, Wehrwolf is both a pun and an anime reference.  I am an unrepentant ******, and it was a good name.

makes ya wonder if the Archer could have been used as the text bed by the yotes scientists on making the Omni Mech project.

quick question, in the old clan wolf sourcebook is a pic of what looks to be a battlemaster with marauder arms,  can you make that?

It's a Battlemaster with aspirations to be a King Crab!

I probably should have shrunk them down, but then the linework to hook the arms together would have been a pain in the rear.

i am sorry,  i went back and looked through the books and the pic i was thinking of was in the Crusader Clans sourcebook pg 22,  the pic is a summoner firing on what looks like a warhammer with the hexagonal weapons pods.   my apologies.
