Best weapon for this suit?
« on: 09 March 2023, 12:17:29 »
So, I had this idea for a spec-ops type suit that evolved into a recon suit that evolved into this silliness. I've got the dread Mauser IIC in the armored gloves right now but I'm not sure if it's the best weapon for the suit, really. And thus do I come to the experienced crew here as I am not much of a BA user. What would be the best weapon to plunk in this thing's hands?

The Mauser IIC is almost always the best option.
Someone did the shrapnel weapon conversions and some of those are better in different areas.
The Mauser IIC seems cheesy, it’s like the LPL of infantry weapons

If you're sticking to Tech Manual, sure... there are plenty of weapons in Shrapnel that would be superior in one way or another.  The 0.60 damage
"nerf" for infantry weapons throws a wrench into the calculations, but not really much of one...  ^-^

I had seen your conversion of the Shrapnel sniper rifles, Daryk, which is what spurred me to wonder if the higher damage of the Mauser IIC is better or if something with longer range would improve survivability for these suits. Does damage round up for BA against armored targets or is it calculated like normal infantry for suits with only conventional arms?

Range is always best. Especially with only 2 HP a suit.

I'm positive of the range conversion, but less so on the damage... If I find any evidence (in either direction), I'll let you know!

My reading of TW and TM on the subject indicates yes, you determine damage using the conventional infantry rules (which now include the 0.60 limit).  The only hitch is that BA can only make a single anti-personnel weapon attack per turn.  Weirdly, you can fire multiple anti-mech weapons.  I suspect it was a game balance decision to keep people from loading up on Auto-Rifles.  My recommendation would be a Barton AMR.
