Wanted to share the details for the merc outfit we're developing for our little project. Having a hard time accessing all my notes for some reason, but I'll jot down what I remember for now and fix it later.
Expect everything here to be at least a bit tongue-in-cheek.
History[more details to come]Officially formed in 3020, the Crimson Corvids are mainly known for taking part in low-scale conflicts all along the Davion-Kurita border ranging all the way from Terra to The Outworlds Alliance. They mainly take contracts defending civilian settlements from raiders and destroying small pirate bases. These actions would also extend to defending from house invading forces and destroying supply depots. They are infamous for having seemingly preternatural good luck and hitting their targets and retreating in a matter of minutes. Moreover, they seem to use and maintain an amount of lostech that has painted a large number of targets on their backs for the potential salvage alone.
Calling them a "company", however, might be a bit of a stretch as they have never been known to deploy more than a lance at a time.
Major PersonnelName: Jordan "Magpie" Buting Davion
Rank: Company Commander
Primary Mech:
MarauderSecondary Mech:
RiflemanBio: Jordan perhaps has never been so accurately summed up as by his regional commander. "He is a unique blend of lucky, competent and unkillable. If it wasn't for his noble flaw and the concentration of lostech in a single unit he would be far more than an emergency asset."
Lord Jordan Buting Davion was born the second son of house Davion in the Capellan March. While his older brother concerned himself with ruling their collection of systems and industries, Jordan was instead raised on the heroic tales of the SLDF and the nobility of House Davion. Skill bolstered by luck, he became a force of nature where ever he was deployed. He was gifted by his house one of the few surviving Marauder 2R to equip as he saw fit. Which, he did, upon finding a single gauss rifle in the house armory. With lostech in short supply on the battlefield and the seemingly unending grind of the third succession war Jordan "luckily" found him self only deployed to command and special forces units. Eventually he was rotated home to lead his home guard. No general wanted to be on the hook for the loss of a Davion, even a minor scion, or such rare and irreplaceable technology. Another deciding factor was the persistent and accurate rumors Lord Jordan and his support team's propensity to strip enemy mechs for all the lostech they could to keep his Marauder in fighting shape much to the chagrin of many other units and his commanders.
This would have likely been a good like for Lord Jordan if the machinations of his own house and the Capellans hadn't met to create a union made in hell. The wayward lady Wei Kinu Liao was in need of a husband and a marriage to a Capellan could calm the fighting on the Capellan March for a time so much the better for all involved. There were of course conditions. Lady Wei Kinu did not wish to be married to an arm chair general and of course House Davion didn't want to be betrayed suddenly and impressively by the Capellans. So, a joint task force was proposed to assault the Kurita Line and cripple the Kuritan offensive in the area.
The operation was unfortunately more wildly successful than either side had hoped and the marriage progressed as fast as the two houses could arrange. It is unknown why Jordan left Lady Wei Kinu at the alter and he was even forced to fight a number of honor guards of his was to an unregistered Union Dropship (belonging to Shandra) to make his escape.
Name: Jack "Coconut" Cho
Rank: Head Mechtech and Mechwarrior
Primary Mech:
CrabSecondary Mech:
King CrabBio [clearance required]:
[ACCESS GRANTED]
Born the second son of the Mandrin of Carver V, Jack Cho did not have as many expectations on him as his older brother. Still, as "the spare", he was given extensive education in politics and mech piloting. Much to the disapproval of his parents, he seemed to have no aptitude for the underhanded politic common to Capellan courts. Instead, he often spent his time bringing other nobles' children, primarily Wei Kinu Liao of Boardwalk, out to “hang out” with lower class citizens. In order to try to make something useful of him, his parents shipped him off to a cell of The Church of Kali, hoping they would mold him into a useful assassin.
All records of his time in The Church of Kali have been destroyed as part of the incident where Jack made his leave of the cell during the upheaval of the cell's main forces being destroyed by a relatively unknown Mercenary Company.
Early in 3020, Jack was contacted by Wei Kinu. She was evidently one of very few who knew of the training he had undergone during his absence. Offering substantial donations to various charities an a renewed citizenship as incentive, she hired Jack to kill her errant fiance, Lord Jordan Davion, who had left her standing at the altar. It took 3 months for Jack to track down the errant Lord to a battlefield on Zanzibar. Jack had planned on using the confusion in the fight to get close and destroy Jason’s Marauder. Instead, Jack found himself downed in combat by a trio of pirate light mechs blasting his Crab in the back. Jack later awoke to Jason’s crew pulling him out of the cockpit aboard their dropship.
After a long discussion about Wei Kinu and what Jason was doing on Zanzibar, Jack signed on with Jason’s mercenary outfit and has been steering them toward jobs that help civilians, even if it puts them at odds with the great houses.Name: Lalo "Spectre" Knight
Rank: Information Officer and Mechwarrior
Primary Mech:
Black KnightSecondary Mech: shared
ArcherBio: A former ComStar data analyst, Lalo was forcibly pressed into assignment as an embedded agent within the Crimson Corvids by virtue of being the only one who could actually keep track of their movements around the inner sphere and all the previous agents having been killed off. He was given basic ROM training and allowed to take one mech with him before being unceremoniously shuttled off to a spaceport that was most likely to be on the Corvids' flight path. Completely not fooling anyone, he has been allowed to stay on with the Corvids mainly because Shandra hasn't felt the need to shove him out an airlock yet. Also because his skill in data gathering and analysis, and knowledge of old sldf tech and facilities, has given him a useful niche within the ragtag bunch of mercs. He makes token reports back to his superiors on Terra, without revealing any useful info on the Corvids' operations; mainly out of spite.
Name: Aurora "Rory" "BoomBoom" Mercury
Rank: Mechwarrior
Primary Mech:
AtlasSecondary Mech: shared
ArcherBio: Rory is one of many children from her family, the latest of a lineage of Canopians that long ago used gene mods instead of just cybernetics for aesthetic augmentation into inumimi (dog girls). Ironically, most of her family is in either politics, business, or farming. She left home early on on a journey that took her on a circuitous route around the inner sphere that eventually led to her becoming a multi-time champion in Solaris VII. One day she just walked out of the arena in the middle of a match, still piloting her
Atlas, and walked into the open bays of a nearby Union dropship belonging to longtime fan Shandra who had made quite a large amount of money betting on Rory's matches. Nobody is sure why she would abandon a lucrative high-profile career for mercenary life, but she's definitely having fun. She occasionally uploads video streams of the company's operations or day-to-day life to the local holonet of whatever planet they're visiting, and she's got a decent fanbase across Davion space.
Name: Shandra
Rank: Executive Officer and Dropship Pilot
Unit: Union dropship
Bio: Shandra is the enigmatic true owner of the company. She handles all of their finances and pilots their dropship herself, sometimes performing maneuvers that push the ship to the limits of safety. She never leaves her office on the ship and performs some practically inhuman levels of multitasking. She also has a bad gambling habit, often taking out large chunks of the company profits to fuel it. The only thing that keeps the other members for mutineering against her is the fact that these bets work out more often than they should, letting her fuel the extensive repairs the lostech under their control entails. There are rumors floating around that she has deep connections to ComStar that give her the leverage to not only keep and maintain their tech levels, but also keep ROM from just wiping her and her company off the map to save resources.

PetsDr. Pinchy - Coconut's pet coconut crab. Often steals tools from the mechbays.
Bitey - Lalo's cat. Very much an attention seeker and lap cat.
Von Corgenstein - Rory's pet corgi. She insists he's a cyborg. In reality, he just has a flashlight and a small camera attached to his collar. "Corgi Cam" is a popular segment on Rory's streams.
"Space Bees" - Rory's hive of stingless bees used to pollinate the plants in the
Scout's hydroponics garden. They tend to get into very inconvenient places so their honey tends to be laced with questionable compounds. Rory brews the honey into "space mead" aka "Boom Juice".
The Corvid Alliance - a large group of crows and ravens that belongs to Shandra. The latter of whom has been not only breeding them, but teaching them many basics of civilized learning. It is rumored that every world she stops at, she lets some out and takes in new local members, spreading a civilization of birds across space.
Mango - Jordan's personal pet raven, member of the Corvid Alliance. Sometimes organizes poker games among the pets.
