Alien Flora
« on: 20 July 2011, 17:55:50 »
So, I came up with an idea for an sentient alien plant species. I really wanted to give the scenerio the works. So, I found some plant stuff at a craft store and went to town.

Here's what I came up with. The big leafy thing is supposed to be the central intelligence unit, or the brain. The others are special strains that the brain can grow in a specially prepared field hex. Made out of leaves glued in layers to one of those little 50cent dispenser containers (gumball/trinket machine). The gems were added afterward.

When working up a patch of vines, I found that pulling apart brillo pads is great.

The little white flowers are different stages of an acid spitter.

The truly alien ones are solar beam plants.

Micro Mechs added for scale.

Anyone else introduce alien plants into their games or on their tables?

Fishtank plants (especially those -mats-of-weeds style broken out) make great alien plants for terrain pieces...
