Did that not already come out?

Combat manual came out years ago. This is a new edition (Force manual) and the production values are much higher. I was planning to skip kurita due to having the old version... but this is tempting.

Yeah, changes are really quite extensive from what we've seen so far so feeling more confident about buying it.

I got to look through an early copy of FM: Davion on the Reunification tour, and it sold me on the line of books.  Despite owning all the old BT books the new ones offer things that are not just a re-hashing of old material (I was sort of worried BT would follow the example of 40K's codex system).  But worries were averted and it looks amazing, I look forward to buying all of the FMs as they come out.

That Kurita manual looks slick! Kind of bummed we have to wait so long for the next three great houses and that we don't (at least know about) a periphery one coming. I'll definitely be picking up the Kurita one, though will be likely skipping the Davion one, as they are the only house I'm not really interested in.

I'm more interested in a merc one. It is the PC faction, after all.

I'm not interested in the Davion one, and my Feddie player will already have a copy available, but I'm getting it anyway because of the completionist in me & also because I want this line to succeed wildly to ensure we get full factional coverage down the road.

Kurita is an insta-buy for me day one though. As is mercs, any combo of Clans that we get in a book, Marik, Liao, Periphery in any fashion, Belters, Pirates, Tetatae, and those space squid interdimensional things from that one Interstellar Players book. I'll see how I'm feeling about Steiner when we get there.

Last I heard it was all stuck in line at the Panama Canal. It seemed like something that would unwind in weeks, not days.

Yeah thanks, that is what I heard at Adepticon. Just hoping for closer to the finish line.

And I'm just going to keep lamenting Catalyst's continued choice of not going through a port on the West Coast (which I'm sure is because it would be considerably more expensive).

International Shipping for shipping crates is more complicated than clicking buy on Amazon. I work entry level logistics and it is tiring that people somehow think screaming at me will somehow make a cargo ship half way on the other side of the planet go faster. This is the cost of living in a interconnected global village with ever growing demand that still heavily relies largely on 20th century transportation for goods across oceans and continents, some times you have to wait a little longer for something coming to you from the other side of the planet.

So we could drive it to Georgia?

Having worked truckload shipping, I am trying not to think about how expensive it would be to move that much product by multiple trucks across the country. I'd rather take the extra few days or even weeks to save the money. We certainly cannot hold CGL or the shipper responsible for a delay due to a freak, major accident.

Given the state of the US rail system, that could very well take longer. Just leave the containers on the boat, we'll get them when we get them.

Im pretty sure nobody predicted that the Panama Canal would be short on water.
That wasn't on my Battletech Problems List.

Well, in this alternate universe, presumably they wouldn't use a warehouse in Georgia.  Not like it's going to happen either way.

My mind still won't process the math on how a place that's connected to TWO OCEANS is short on water. Somehow, it's Max Liao's fault.

But most of the canal isn't directly connected to either ocean though. That's why they need locks.

Still Max Liao's fault.
Good news is the lab boys say the symptoms of asbestos poisoning show an immediate latency of 44.6 years. So if you're thirty or over you're laughing. Worst case scenario you miss out on a few rounds of canasta, plus you've forwarded the cause of science by three centuries. I punch those numbers into my calculator, it makes a happy face.

Most of the canal are lakes above sea level that use the locks as elevators;

If the naturally land lock lakes are lower than normal, the whole system has trouble operating per normal.

but yeah, Max Liao got Cobra Commander's weather dominator or something, why not.

The system relies on gravity to either fill or empty the locks, which releases water to the oceans.  The water is normally replenished by rainfall, but they've been in a drought for the last year.  Pumping the water back up to Gatun Lake isn't feasible, because it would contaminate the lake, which is used for drinking water and agriculture.

Probably doesn't help they put nanofibres across the canal and sliced a slip like so much bread - gotta be a huge mess to clean-up 3-Body Problem Spoiler

Hand it over to General Sherman, tell him Savannah needs to be captured again and that what's in the crate is his secret weapon. Easy.

More seriosuly, yeah, it is just mind-bogglingly wasteful to ship something destined for the South to California then schlep it across the continent when East Coast ports are closer. And I don't know if it would really save that much time. Patience is a virtue, and we're just gonna have to wait as the Baltimore disaster's knock-on effects for shipping shake out.

Living here in Baltimore, I asked about those effects the day the bridge went down. It sounds like we might be okay, according to Randall
