Jihad fiction
« on: 14 March 2024, 09:52:55 »
Hello! I hope this isn't in the wrong place. If it is, please sing out and I'll remove it (and post it in the proper place if you'll give me a heads up as to where, please).

I'm trying to put together a list of all the Jihad fiction available in print (traditional, PoD, epub, pdf, I don't care). I know there was some stuff on BattleCorps that hasn't made the jump, but so far as I know that's no longer accessible so I'm not including those in the list that follows.

I'm asking those interested to take a look at this list--which is presented in internal chronological order--and see what all I'm missing. List follows.

Thanks so much!

"We have made of New Avalon a towering funeral pyre and wiped the Davion scourge from the universe.  Tikonov, Chesterton and Andurien are ours once more, and the cheers of the Capellan people nearly drown out the gnashing of our foes' teeth as they throw down their weapons in despair.  Now I am made First Lord of the Star League, and all shall bow down to me and pay homa...oooooo! Shiny thing!" - Maximillian Liao, "My Triumph", audio dictation, 3030.  Unpublished.

There's also Those Who Stand High by Jason Hansa and Lyran Fire by Lance Scarinci, reprinted in Kill Zone

The Son of Blake stories by Blaine Lee Pardoe:  Son of Blake itself is set before the Jihad, and is reprinted in Front Lines, The Loyal Son is in Kill Zone, while Desperate Measures and Defiant Stand have not been reprinted.

The Discovery of Command by Harper Brand was the new story in Front Lines
The Few, The Lucky by Chris Hussey is also in Front Lines

Thank you so much!

Here's my revised list, now with sourcebooks incorporated. I separated the sourcebook fiction out from the books themselves in these entries, because in a few cases, the fiction is somewhat separated in dating from the rest of the text. You'll note that there are quite a few Free Worlds League specific items here because, in my view, the Word of Blake is inextricably tied to that realm. The dating of some of this is necessarily speculative, but I'm reasonably confident that this gives a good overview of what's available in internal chronological order. I'll update this as more corrections and emendations are forthcoming. (Note that in some cases, particularly with sourcebook fiction, I've been able to determine authorship, thus the "by X" notations.)

-----------

57 pieces of fiction and 36 sourcebooks

1.     Succession Wars: House Marik (The Free Worlds League) [1988]
