Miniature of the Fortnight #172: Mackie
« on: 07 October 2024, 21:09:17 »
Every so often comes an invention or discovery that changes civilization. The Mackie was one of them. Ushering in the Age of the BattleMech, the Mackie irrevocably changed the shape of warfare in the Inner Sphere. No more was the tank king of the battlefield, proven by the Mackie stomping a drone Merkava VI tank into scrap. If you'd like to perform this feat yourself or use the Mackie in combat against opponents its own size, please see marauder648's 'Mech of the Week article.

Despite its significance in universe, the Mackie has only had two sculpts, one in metal and one in plastic:If you have painted either of these, please share pictures! We'd love to see them! (Merkava tank(s) optional.)

Our next two fortnights will be:
  • 10/21: Fireball and Jackal
  • 11/4: Hector and Icarus II

Don't forget the original MFUK sculpt. https://www.skumm.ca/limited-editions/MFUK-Mackie/MFUK-Mackie.html
Epitaph on an Army of Mercenaries

These, in the day when heaven was falling,      Their shoulders held the sky suspended;
The hour when earth's foundations fled,         They stood, and earth's foundations stay;
Followed their mercenary calling,               What God abandoned, these defended,
And took their wages, and are dead.             And saved the sum of things for pay.

A.E. Housman
