Work productivity for me was close to zero… when there weren’t customers in my face or calling…. I did my job AND read the entire book

As far as B+N and the MAC Pack goes: unavailable online anymore pickup at store only had to drive forty minutes to get one. In comparison my nearest two stores still have four-five Dragoons stars between them.

It's never been that way before - ever other release I've purchased the combo on release day and the pdf has been immediately available.

I've never had an issue before either.   :undecided:

They apparently fixed it, as I just ordered the Combo a few minutes ago, and got an email with my "Access Content" link, and it worked.   :smilie_happy_thumbup:

Aside from mixed opinions on the weighty matters of plot, I am enjoying the tone of IKEO quite a bit.  The writing is good, rarely has a setting sourcebook made me laugh aloud.  My favorite line so far: "....and that involve the word “culling” with a frequency the impartial observer might find alarming...."

Props to the writers, this is a very fun book to read.

Agreed. Skim-read it last night and today, and first impression is quite favourable. Nice to have the latest map of the Inner Sphere as well, and for everybody to get a mention in the Human Sphere-wide summary, even minor factions like the Jarnfolk and Khwarazm Empire.

The writing is good, rarely has a setting sourcebook made me laugh aloud.  My favorite line so far: "....and that involve the word “culling” with a frequency the impartial observer might find alarming...."

"As the two Clans chosen to be the Star League’s praetorians have track records with their lower castes that could generously be called poor and that involve the word “culling” with a frequency the impartial observer might find alarming..."

The dry irony in that sentence made me chuckle too  Like that Wars of Reaving quip suggesting Jaguar warriors were better economists than they're given credit for - because the Londerholm slaughter reduced the food demand to manageable levels.

On a more serious note, good to see that PR concerns about the Jags' resurrection are mentioned, given their reputation among Spheroids. Ditto for whether the Falcons can and want to be redeemed.

Another snippet from Clan Sea Fox's entry. Could have sworn I've seen this metaphor on the forums here after HOTW came out.

"...as one wag in Clan Sea Fox put it, the Wolves are like the dog who catches a groundcar at long last but has no clue what to do with it."

All in all, magnificent effort.
All Clan totems are equal but some are more equal than others.

"The Succession Wars solved no problem. Their effects, both immediate and indirect, were either negative or disastrous. Morally subversive, economically destructive, socially degrading, confused in their causes, devious in their course, futile in their results, they are the outstanding example in Spheroid history of meaningless conflict."
The Third Star League's view of the Succession Wars, plagiarised from an ancient Terran historian's judgement of the Thirty Years War.

You may have also seen it in it's original form in The Dark Knight.

Some dogs know what they'd do:

(Though Gary Larsen swore it's not what it looks like)
"We have made of New Avalon a towering funeral pyre and wiped the Davion scourge from the universe.  Tikonov, Chesterton and Andurien are ours once more, and the cheers of the Capellan people nearly drown out the gnashing of our foes' teeth as they throw down their weapons in despair.  Now I am made First Lord of the Star League, and all shall bow down to me and pay homa...oooooo! Shiny thing!" - Maximillian Liao, "My Triumph", audio dictation, 3030.  Unpublished.

For the Falcons PR image, I think Jiyu could go a long way to fix it, which would be a interesting reason for Alaric not to force the re-integration . . . Besides the Wolves we split for 80 years, what is a decade or two for the birds?

Due to my wife switching jobs, discretionary spending was frozen, but now is freed.

Which is better to be first, Trial or ilKhan?

For me, it is always sourcebooks over fiction. My primary engagement with the setting is arguably in the role of company captain. The last reason I want to be fighting on Keid is so my boss can experience a catharsis and character moment at the end of the campaign.

Trial for the what ACTUALLY happened and how.

IKEO if you want the big picture further into the timeline. Both are really good either way.

I prefer to read novels before sourcebooks. The novel focuses in on the story while the sourcebook covers a broader scope of the universe.

What if you created a Star League and nobody came . . . ?

Might be one of the best lines in the last half dozen book.

I liked setting up the possible return of the Aurigan Coalition, and the local pirates once again fielding exceptionally advanced weaponry and selling it on the region's black markets (speculated to be from a WoB cache).

I was trying to remember how long it normally takes, since it's been a while since I bought a sourcebook directly from them.

It's a bit exciting for our local campaign group as we started there, and have a landhold there, too.

Latest map as in, complete Inner Sphere 3152?  Big enough PDF pages to zoom in and read the letters of every single worlds' names?  I'd love to have one printed out on a giant poster if so.

Yes, it's got a two-page spread of the Inner Sphere at the end of the events in the book. There's overlap between the two pages though, so you'd have to do some fiddling if you extracted them to make a single image.

Is that the first Aces release? Or already showing prototype mechs of the 2nd release?

Sounds like a product that could work w/ the Somerset Strikers pack . . .
