Mech-Scale Fortress Class Dropship
« on: 12 October 2024, 15:52:35 »
A mech-scale Fortress Class Dropship for Alpha Strike made from cardboard, gesso, and modeling paste.  Probably the last cardboard build terrain I make before getting a 3D printer.  It was fun building something truly massive as a scenario center piece.

Here is the Fortress, supported by binary of Jade Falcon mechs and aerospace, as it unloads its compliment of mechs and vehicles under Word of Blake attack during the liberation of Tharkad in 3072.

Nice work!  All it's missing is the Long Tom... ;)

Thanks!  It has a Long Tom, it's the big gun coming out of the top left gun port.  It's hard to see in the camera but it's as tall as a mech.

I could see you doing a mix of materials.  3D for detailed items and a main skeleton, along with cardboard and modeling paste to be the flat or semi-bent panels on Dropships.

Another idea might be trying to map the interior of a Dropship, and use the Dropship model to carry your Mechs as well.  Each level can lift off a lower level, and has several hex-shaped depressions to put your Mech models in.

Very nice setup.

I now have visions of a Dropship opening up like my Late 1970's Darth Vader figure case & inside is row upon row of mechs.
