Mechwarrior 5 on PS4--where to start?
« on: 12 November 2024, 09:40:56 »
Looking in the PS4 online store, I see several Mechwarrior 5 products for sale. What's the most bang for my buck in terms of content, including DLC? Or should I try to find the game on disc somewhere?

MW 5 hasn't, as far as I'm aware, gotten a physical release on any platform.

As far as getting the most bang for your buck, I'm not sure if it's still available but at one time there was a bundle of MW5: Mercs with the Heroes of the Inner Sphere and Legend of the Kestrel Lancers DLCs.  I'd get that to begin with, then pick up the other DLCs (Call to Arms, Rise of Rasalhague, Dragon's Gambit, and Solaris Showdown) after you decide you want to commit to the game.

Actually MW5:Mercs was physically released for consoles, PS4 included - https://mw5mercs.com/news/2021/11/66-mw5-mercs-retail-release

That was back in 2021 though and pretty much second hand now, they are also the base game version so if your after DLC you'd need to acquire digitally anyway. The JumpShip Edition that MoneyLovinOgre4Hire mentioned is a good starter option.
