MADOX-01 in BattleTech?
« on: 19 November 2024, 07:58:33 »

So I was watching this OAV recently for pure nostalgia purposes, and it's as silly as I remember, but damn if the Madox doesn't look like a sweet sweet ride.  So I took a stab at it in Megamek Lab, and this is what fell out - not great, mediocre really, but as far as IS BA go I guess it's passable.  It worked better as a Heavy BA I think, but have the Medium BA version.

Unfortunately, you can't put a partial wing on a medium suit.

As an alternative, you might consider just omitting the equipment and leaving the wings as just fluff. Possibly a more painful option would be to scale the suit down even further to the light weight class.
Good news is the lab boys say the symptoms of asbestos poisoning show an immediate latency of 44.6 years. So if you're thirty or over you're laughing. Worst case scenario you miss out on a few rounds of canasta, plus you've forwarded the cause of science by three centuries. I punch those numbers into my calculator, it makes a happy face.

Maybe a Jump Booster instead?

For our house rules, I just 'air-mech'ed the BA. 1/9 with flying rules.

Ill have to watch madox I guess now, looks neat.

Its another example of weight/art mismatch, googling the OG anime they claim its 600kg and also claim its layered high density steel capable of shrugging off all small arms, SO... it cant be 600kg, have that visual volume AND use high density steel.  But thats another issue haha, the capabilities are the same regardless of what the anime says its weight is.

Is there WIGE BA yet?  It skims like a WIGE, not really jumping up in the air.  If no WIGE BA and only WIGE protos, then id consider VTOL BA instead of jump MP, and limit yourself to not flying high as a negative quirk.
