So I sat down and watched The Cabin In The Woods the other night.  Didn't know what it was, caught it on Syfy and went in expecting one of their cheap horror crapfests.  Was terribly wrong.

Laughed my sides off.

Best horror movie I've seen in a very long time.  DO NOT LOOK UP REVIEWS.  There are huge spoilers for the movie, just go sit down and watch it and remember that you're seeing Joss Whedon's kick-in-the-arse to the entire horror movie genre in general.
Der Hölle Rache kocht in meinem Herzen,
Tod und Verzweiflung flammet um mich her!
Fühlt nicht durch dich Jadefalke Todesschmerzen,
So bist du meine Tochter nimmermehr!

Just saw Mortdecai with Johnny Depp.  It was funnier than I thought it would be, it was funny, reminded me the old Peter Sellers's Pink Panther films in way Depp comes off. A good fit for him.

Very true.   I loved the banter between him and both Ewan and Paltrow.

Last night i saw "get on up" about the life of James brown.  Only hate on it was how they shifted backwards and forwards in time so much.  Otherwise was a great film.
Also caught the 4th in the Scorpion king series.  Laughed my butt off.

My wife and I love that show.  Happy to hear Netflix picked it up for season 4.

Its awful  ;D
We hear that there are tumults and riots in Rome, and that voices are raised concerning the army and the quality of our soldiers. Well..  i had to use my laptop connected to the TV to play the 2 videos i had as my player seems to be on the fritz (and its only 2 months old!!!)..
Blackhat was a little slow but decent otherwise.
Chappie was very well done.  IMO one of the best "robot gets AI" since Short Circuit.

I just got done watching "Olympus Has Fallen" on TNT. It was another movie I've never seen before.

Both OhF and White house down were great "the white house has been taken films", but i much preferred Olympus to WHD..
And get this, they already have a sequel to it being released later this year..  London down!

old Mork & Mindy - as a kid I hated when they got married and had a "grownup kid" but re-watching as an adult, he was kinda funny. the last 4 episodes though - eh.

Well, Robin Williams had said in the past he was trying to kill the show since it was becoming stifling.

Really, didn't know that. weird, it was the only show where he could be his normal "nut-job" type without playing a nut-job. I was actually thinking, with all the studios having trouble coming up with anything new & relying on old rehash, no-one ever thought of "Merth"! 35 years later, Merth is now 35 (looks mid 20s - "Heavy" comedian?), "mom" (Mindi) is now 60 "Grandma" and "Grandpa" is a nutty 5-6 YO with Robin Williams voice!  ;D getting a little forgetful & sometimes forgets not to sit on his face. Maybe start with a 7YO & if it takes off replace with a slightly younger actor each season or 2 (6.5-6-5.5)

"Would You Rather?" - sorta horror flick, though, honestly, fairly predictable and basic. It seemed like it was an indy production with a small budget (that isn't necessarily a bad thing.) Jeffrey Combs was, well, Jeffrey Combs, and rather delightfully so. There are worse ways to spend 90 minutes, and it's available streaming on Netflix. 3 / 5 stars.

Watched Seventh son last night.  Not a bad movie, but not a great one either.  Solid 3 of 5 stars..
My only real gripe is with all the 'warlocks/witches etc' why did we not see more "Spell-battles" vice so much hand to hand?

Because it's cheaper to just have two actors/stuntmen go slappers against each other than to CGI in decent looking spell effects.
