My wife and daughter are out of town, so I have been delving into the stuff they hate. :) Also hit the used DVD place this week.
Evil Dead 2, with the audio commentary on. Best pragmatic argument against streaming (or pirating,) in my book.
The Octagon. Found this gem of cheesy '80's gold this week. I remember watching it at a drive in when I was 13, and hooking me on the ninja mythos for life. Which leads me to:
Ninja Assassin. Got the Blu-ray used for $3. Big, noisy, silly while trying to stay serious. Still liked it. Not near as bad as people said.
Super 8. Another $3 used, but it hadn't been opened. I freaking loved this movie. One of the best coming of age films I have seen in a long time, mixed with ET, Close Encounters, and Alien. Loved it.
Manhunter. Yeay! The first of Harris' "Hannibal Lector) books to make it to the screen, it is an adaption of Red Dragon. Very underrated movie, and as much as I loved Sir Anthony in Silence (I refused to see any of the others which made Lector the hero,) Brian Cox really does a beautiful job.
Shawn of the Dead. Love this movie.
Zombieland. Missed this is the theater, got it for free. Hard to argue. See, the Inevitable Zombie Apoccalypse can be fun!
Vampires. I have loved this movie since I saw it in the theater. Replaced my old VHS copy with a DVD.
