Tortuga Dominion, post-Jihad
« on: 28 March 2011, 06:16:23 »
So, I was planning next step for my AToW campaign. And I decided to involve
some pirate hunting/garrison duty.

What is current state of the Tortuga Dominion? Is Precentor William Derer still in rule there?
Just enlighten me :)

I think you may have to wait tell we see FR: Periphery for your answers.

The Tortuga Dominions was founded in 2593 by the Federated Suns’ 237th Light Cavalry Regiment, who went rogue after fighting and dying for the First Prince against the Taurian Concordat in the Reunification War. By the 2700s, the Dominions had expanded to its current six worlds. In 3015, Senior Mate Paula Trevaline of the Council of the Damned became Dame of the Tortuga Dominions after she killed Lord Kalvin Bar-Dyness. Her Dameship lasted until 3042, when she was captured by the Federated Suns’ 9th Regimental Combat Team.

In 3064, Trevaline escaped from her New Syrtis maximum-security prison to find that in 3054, Fuchida’s Fusiliers had taken over the Dominions. It is likely that her escape was orchestrated by the Word of Blake. Although there is no proof of their complicity, upon her escape, she immediately went about recreating Death’s Consorts in the Pirates Haven Star Cluster, and within months, was able to produce the Brigand BattleMech. The Fusiliers were still in control of the Dominions upon her release in 3064, however, by Field Manual: Updates, which was set in 3067, they were conspicuously absent. She had not yet moved the Consorts from Pirates Haven, so she may or may not have been in control of the Dominions by that time.

Certainly by 3073, she had crushed the Fusiliers and was in a position to take a mercenary contract with the Malgrotta Cooperative, leaving the Word of Blake to govern her Dominions in her absence. Although she was killed in 3075, her Consorts avenged her death and took over the Cooperative. Although it may have been brief, in 3075, Death’s Consorts controlled the Pirates Haven Star Cluster, six worlds of the Tortuga Dominions, and six worlds of the Malgrotta Cooperative. The Filtvelt Coalition invaded Tortuga after that, and was soundly defeated. What happened after that is not immediately clear, but at some point the Federated Suns liberated three of the Malgrotta Cooperative’s worlds. The other four appear to be periphery independents.

Just found out that Trevaline became Lady of the Tortuga Dominions (second time) in 3067. There's a reference to it in TRO:3050U.

Thanks!

That will give me some ideas about possible approach I'm taking there.

Another question. Generally, are there still pirates running around with introductory tech?
Since some pirates can be deserters from House or Periphery armies and their tech might be
same level with front line military commands.

It would be interesting to see what new things Vengeance Incorporated is going to make.

Whatever it is, I am sure that it will make Baby Davion cry.

In 3073, the seven worlds of the Malagrotta Cooperative declared their independence from the Davion Regime. In 3075, the Cooperative was annexed by the Tortuga Dominions. By 3079, four of the Cooperative worlds were again Davion, and three were “disputed” according to Field Report: AFFS. By 3130, the three “disputed” worlds seem to be periphery independents, and one of the reclaimed worlds is also apparently a periphery independent.

Curious if they tried one with some newer tech.
