Touring the Stars?

I was looking forward to Gladiator Gazette but ether I'm the only one hungry for more Solaris or IlClan and whatever is following it is taking up all the available writing talent that would be needed to crank out the mini PDFs at a regular bases.

And paying the writing talent. Their kids like to eat too, you know.

Yes, PDF makes it easier/cheaper to distribute a product. But all the work that went into it has to be paid for.

I was most bummed about opfor disappearing though the standard lances in TP Vega scratched that itch

So, we are likely looking at one or two days more at this point?

Pretty good timing, since BATTLETECH's second expansion is released in about 18 hours or so.

Physical copy is looking good, but has a price been listed for the POD? Some of those books get a little pricey.

Bosefius, is the quality of the POD book high enough? I mean is it comparable to the other perfect bound books we've received from CGL? (I'm willing to try POD but if the pages fall out three days after I get it because of crappy glue I'm going to be annoyed.)

And....While the cover looks great...The point of the baby name generator??

How do you think they named the characters in the game? ;)

My POD copy of Forever Faithful is indistinguishable, quality-wise, from previous CGL books - to the point where I suspect the other books (Betrayal of Ideals GenCon edition, The Nellus Academy Incident, The Anvil/A Splinter of Hope, BattleCorps anthologies) were produced through a similar process even if they weren't POD.
That said, my Forever Faithful copy has an Amazon imprint indicating a German production facility. I know next to nothing about POD logistics, but I strongly suspect there's a number of production sites scattered all over the globe. And the quality of the end product will likely depend on the specific site that produced it. (Though Amazon will strive to make all output as equal as possible, quality-wise.)

Looking forward to holding House Arano in my hands, and am excited and curious about how it will turn out.

Well, they ARE trying to make this one in the style of the original House sourcebooks.  Crackling glue and loose pages would just be an homage.  ;)
"We have made of New Avalon a towering funeral pyre and wiped the Davion scourge from the universe.  Tikonov, Chesterton and Andurien are ours once more, and the cheers of the Capellan people nearly drown out the gnashing of our foes' teeth as they throw down their weapons in despair.  Now I am made First Lord of the Star League, and all shall bow down to me and pay homa...oooooo! Shiny thing!" - Maximillian Liao, "My Triumph", audio dictation, 3030.  Unpublished.

agreed on the PoD novel quality. i have them alongside the BC compilations and you wouldn't know they were printed days after I ordered them unless you looked in the back for the print date barcode. my US books come out of Delaware on the east coast. unsure if there are other printers used in the US or Canada. this is an important run on the PoD front because afaik it's the first run at color pages. good results on that would be promising for the viability of the system.

I have no clue, I don't have the Proof, just posted pictures that were sent to me.

But I really to point out that the novels were all done through Amazon while this is being done through Drive Thru RPG so comparing this to the novels is pointless.

College students have a far more resilient metabolism than other folks, and there are some for whom even ramen can be a drain. Even for folks whose situation is not that tight, money problems are enough of a drain on the soul without people making light of it.

On the topic of failed bindings, my original mercenaries handbook binding just failed after years of tough love.
This looks good. I don’t know anything about this house though. Could someone give a  brief timeline run down? When is this book ‘set’?

House Arano is from the Harebrained Schemes "BattleTech" PC game - far too much content to summarize here. The game is set in the mid-3020s, and this sourcebook is set in the couple of years just after the game, pre-4SW.

Here's the plot summary of the game - obviously, don't read it if you ever plan on playing through the game: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/BattleTech_(Video_Game)#Plot_Synopsis

Its a pretty solid look at being a merc in the early setting with a few big differences due to the platform- you do not pay to repair armor or reload ammo.  Its out in the periphery between the TC, MoC and CC near the planet of Detroit.  The area is one of my favorite places to play after the Chaos March due to it being space mostly unclaimed by the big powers.
