One of my only other options was to re-write it as a character using a Sun Cobra, which just is not as cool.

Definitely the better option.

That's excellent!   I was nervous about its status.  But it is a cool design, and it makes up for being slow by the dakka factor, as Empyrus said.
The 5 uses Gauss Rifles, based on MWDA fluff. It is just MWDA fluff also had alternate variant with twin UAC/10s, which hasn't been canonized :(

That's why I brought it up on this thread.  If it's not canon, then it should be in one of the Rec Guides and it will be.  Cross your fingers!  Because that version with the two Ultra AC/10's should be canon.

Is the Tundra Wolf a Kickstarter Mech?

Nope, it's a clickytech refugee. I figure it's very unlikely to show up in the rec guide.

It sounds like it might be in the unreleased and undeveloped 3150 new tech, new upgrades sheets?

It's not. It's never reached non-clicky BattleTech.

Yeah, at most it would probably be something about it having reached the blueprints or perhaps prototype stage in the 50s but was never put into production.
The Roadrunner (TRO3150), Devil (Rec Guide 8), the White Raven (Rec Guide 12), and the aforementioned Tomahawk & Tomahawk II all fit in this general mold of something old resurrected in something new.

It's been in at least two paper TROs and has a metal mini. It may not be part of the Kickstarter, but it's definitely reached non-click Battletech.

I think y’all are using the pronoun “it” differently.

Alright.  New Rec Guide tomorrow, barring a release setback, which happens.

As an Inner Sphere lover, what do people think we'll be getting as the mech 'centerfold' tomorrow?  Only a couple possibilities left!

By my reckoning the candidates are:  Ostroc, Longbow, Scorpion (not sure if quads are in), Goliath (same, we've already had the 'C' version).  Atlas is the IS centerfold for Volume 24, in late December.

I'm thinking they open with the Ostroc, since we know the Iron Cheetah featured on the cover is already a 100 ton assault.  What does everyone else think?

Ostroc works for me.  Save the Longbow for two weeks?

Are we sure? It is technically quite possible the Atlas ends up getting only a third of a page entry rather than a full entry. After all OmniMechs in covers don't merit a full entry.

Yeah, but by the time that book is out there are no further unseens, it's the cover mech, and it's one of the top three most iconic mechs in the game.  There's not really any other mechs that could beat it out for having the centerfold page.

Exactly this.  I'm guessing it gets a couple new versions and lots of good background stories.

The Atlas is on the preview for the cover for 24. It's quite possibly the most iconic battlemech. Do you really think it's only going to get a third of a page? How many factories produce it? I'd expect at least a Steiner, Davion, and Kurita variant. Let's hope it takes the Rec Guides out with a bang

Yeah, this was my intent. Apologies all around for not being clear.
That said, the UAC/10 variant might have showed up in one of the MWDA novels; I didn't search at all.

I may not have been clear, either.  I was excited to learn the version of the Tundra Wolf with two Gauss Rifles was canon.  From what I remember, it is the exact same variant, it simply comes either with two Gauss, or two Ultra AC/10s.  Either way, it has a downgraded engine to make room for the bigger guns.

All this may have changed and it might be separate versions, because it wasn't that long ago that Sarna had it marked as apocryphal, regardless of which arm mounted guns it had.

Exactly.  Plus. somebody said something somewhere about "too many 'mechs", as well.  I don't think so but it stands to reason that some models will blur together in memory.

It's for a Wolf Story, so not appropriate.

Edit: maybe it is appropriate after all.

Wait, why? The Wolves took the Glass Spider's specifications as isorla from the Widowmakers during the Absorption, plus they created the 2 and 4.

Mmh... Marauder, Warhammer, Locust, Daishi, Mad Cat, Vulture...

Yes, the Atlas is iconic, but in the top three?

I think there still plenty of unseens yet to be redone. Ok hope they get to them all. A
good chunk of the IIC machines are still yet to be done. There still some 3055/3058s yet to be done.
To then we yet to see less-loved quad unseens like the Scorpion and Goliath which we may have see a teaser for. Then you have all the LAMs. The MK 1s were ugly as hell so I am hoping for better version but I suspect they may too complicated units to be in a ReGuide. (Hope not)
