Beyond the printed rulebooks and source material for BattleTech, Catalyst is releasing numerous electronic publications that further expands the universe and rules in a myriad directions. These new, E-publication-only published products (from e-books to PDFs) offer a quick, easy fix for the MechWarrior jonsing for more of the 31st Century they crave.
As with our print books, e-publications fill several different lines of Technical Readouts, Field Reports, Turning Points, and so on, described below.
Supplementals are PDFs directly linked to a specific print book. These PDFs flesh out additional aspects of the corresponding print book, be it more sourcebook material, fiction, units, record sheets, and so on.
In a similar style to Starterbooks, Starters focus on a specific conflict. It includes the brief history and personal dossiers of the members of two opposing forces, and also provides scenarios and comes complete with record sheets for their ’Mechs and characters alike.
These campaign PDFs uses the Chaos Campaign rules and gives players the option of fighting individual battles, following a campaign arc, inserting it into their own campaigns and even create their own scenarios with optional rules to give their games a specific “flavor.” Each PDF includes a detailed map of a specific world, a run down of the forces involved in the conflict, and several tracks that players can use to run simple lance-on-lance battles, or stage up to a world-wide invasion. Only the players’ imaginations are the limits.
Experimental Technical Readouts highlight a sample of the prototype designs that have begun testing in the BattleTech universe during the Jihad by a given faction. Each design featured in any book incorporates some of the latest technologies to debut in the war against the Word of Blake, as first described in Tactical Operations. Statistics and Record Sheets are included, ready for play in advanced BattleTech games.
BattleTech MapPacks bring back BattleTech’s classic map sheets in printable form. Using the original map sheet art, and sized for compatibility with the original printed sheets and newer HexPacks alike, you can now store and print as many sheets as needed for your BattleTech games. Use these sheets in conjunction with the random terrain tables found in Total Warfare, or any time you need a quick map, but transporting physical terrain is impractical. Mount them on poster board or cardboard for longevity, or cut them up to mix and match your own unique battlefields.
As mentioned on the print Record Sheets page, Record Sheet books come in two flavors: a printed format that includes many of the more common units plus additional rules and scenarios, and a PDF format that contains an unabridged listing of all units without the additional information. This section includes those unabridged PDFs, as well additional record sheets books for other aspects of BattleTech play.
In a similar style to Era Report, Era Digests are mini-sourcebooks that delve into areas of the BattleTech history not already covered extensively elsewhere. In additional to exploring the time period in question, additional game play rules and units, complete with record sheets, are included.
Field Reports describs the state of the given faction in the wake of the events described in Jihad Hot Spots: Terra, including faction’s overall military and logistical condition, as well as a full-color deployment map showing the position of all forces.
Objectives describes the state of the major factories, training centers, and command centers of a given faction in the wake of the events described in Jihad Hot Spots: Terra. Including detailed stats on every key system within the realm, these supplements also includes basic rules to help guide players in developing BattleTech scenarios focused on defending—or attacking—these critical sites.
Lance Pack dossier files provide players with the background and descriptions of four members of lance and a micro-campaign based on their exploits, complete with character and BattleMech record sheets suitable for play with Total Warfare and A Time of War: The BattleTechRPG.
